Aga Query - Again!!

Sorry about this everyone - I have been posting a few Aga queries of late but it is such a huge investment that I want to make sure I make the right decision.

Basically I know the model, type, colour I want etc but I now can't decide between a 2 or 3 oven aga. I am having a classic (new) Aga in cream and really like the design of the 2 door but I don't know if it will be big enough. We are a family of 4. Can anyone offer any helpful advise?

we were a family of 6 when i was growing up and mum found the 2 door was more than adequate.

she catered for functions for 100's of people on her 2 door too.

Thanks bamboobutton. That sounds like good news. Did your mom have an additional oven in case she needed extra space or did she just use the aga?

she just used the aga.

when doing roasts things that had already cooked were kept in the bottom oven to keep warm while everything else finished cooking. the ovens are so deep you can fit loads in anyway if you buy the proper aga tins and cooling shelf.

i grew up cooking on an aga and miss it sooo badly, can't get used to crappy fan assisted or gas ovens.

I just use an aga, don't have a conventional oven and would say if you have the space, get th bigger one - you will never, ever regret it . Basically, top right is roasting 200-220, bottom right is baking and varies from 160 at bottom to 180 at top, top left is 150 and perfect for slow cooking or meringues, rice etc, and bottom left is a warmer. If you choose the 2 oven model you lose flexibility and baking is a little trickier: you have to use something called a cold shelf.

Sunday roast to give you an example (family of 6) - roast is in top right most of the time then moves to bottom right. Potatoes go in top right instead. Pudding was in bottom right, now moves to warmer with plates. Veg started boiling on top, now moved to simmering oven with a spot of water. Easy.

Thanks so much for your answers. Because there isn't that much difference in price (it all gets relative after the first few thousand!!)I will probably go for the 3 oven. The main reason for wanting the 2 was because I liked the look of it more which isn't the best reason for making a decision!

I am sooo excited though
