carpet washers

Has anyone got a good recommendation for a carpet washer? I have beige carpet from the front door , up the stairs, to the lounge and bedrooms. The front door bit and stairs are looking particularly bad.
What make do you suggest? TIA

I have just used a rented Rug Doctor. This household is heavy on carpets--two children and two dogs, in a very muddy area with a heavy clay soil.

The grot that came out was appalling--and I'd been steamcleaning them regularly, too.

It cost about £18 to hire it for 24 hours, plus the cleaning fluid.

Worth the money.

FOcus branches usually have the Rug Doctors for hire.

Thanks I'll try that. Looking forward to seeing what comes out!

You will be horrified

I have a bissell carpet cleaner, we are a no shoe household and the general dirt that comes out of the carpets is awful.

Imagine taking a couple of handfuls of mud and adding to a sink of water, that is what it looks like

Yup. That was our house, too. [shameful emoticon]
