What helps you stay in control

Just wondering what you find most helpful in keeping things under cotnrol in terms of family life, do any of you have any good cheats or gadgets you could recommend in helping keep the running of the house smooth.

what helps me most is having a day at home each week on my own. If I miss that day for whatever reason then everything gets more stressed until I get that time on my own again to sort things.

Good idea, I have been really trying to get by recently without some of the creature comforts because of redecoration plans (put in place by my husband) but i cant cope without my technology. Anyone else in the same boat?
