dyls just skimmed threads from last week, congrats on the GTC interview!
OFM well done on applying for the job - I have an interview on Thurs just for very small hours I think, one to one tuition for Year 9, 10 and 11 students, we will see what hours they offer! i am still pondering just phoning up every full time job advertised and offering my services as part time and seeing what they say - probably one of them would go for it with my wealth of teaching expertise and experience [vain emoticon]
everyone hi
DS gone to his golf lesson with my Dad. We went to the 16th party last night, it was ok, then stayed up very late watching the woman get gold at the winter Olympics - I always sob and sob at GB medals at Olympics!!! LOL
Not sure what is on the agenda for today, but better start with a shower and get dressed

Morning ALL Busy,busy half-term.
dyls and everyoneelse you need the times of the changing of the guards to see the Red uniforms at Buckingham Palace.schedule Also try one year to book the 'Trooping of the Colour' You might see me there lining the streets or the parade square. I also explain to little boys how to really stand like a solider thumbs down by the line of your trousers head up shoulders back They love police officers telling them parents are boring.

Starbear · 20/02/2010 11:40

I must also add. Tower of London you mainly get the Beefeeters and very few Bearskins types.

Starbear · 20/02/2010 11:47

Okay now must crack on with my list.
Tower of Laundry
Bunkingham rubbish out
recycle of the queen (papers)
shopping of the guards
A Parade of cannelloni with beef Ragu &spinach. For tea
Changing of Apple cake (I must I must)
I feel the a strong falling out with DH re ideas on renovating the house. If I don't like something I call it stupid he gets defensive and we both are in a bad mood must figure out how to cope with this!!!! Will our marriage cope!!!!!!!
Now going to cheer myself up and find out when the newsquiz is on on Radio 4

Makingchanges · 20/02/2010 13:44

Afternoon all

Early morning here to get DD to dance class. I managed a gym session but I've hurt my knee again (this fitness attempt is so bad for my health) so had to stop. Then been to Tesco for shopping and bought my easter eggs as well (I know its early) and delivered my sisters on DDs insistance so thats two jobs done.

Just come back and had lunch now need to have a good go at tidying house as its a complete mess and DH due back later this afternoon

Jobs to do

Pick up DD's toys from lounge and hoover
put shopping away
rewash clothes again
put dry pots away from yesterday
more washing
clean bathroom
find something for tea in fridge - don't know whether to do beef stir-fry or chick tikka or something else. Have lots of food but ow have to make ingredients into a meal
clean car - although may get DH to take to car wash tomorrow cos its cold outside
clear understairs

Starbear · 20/02/2010 14:53

Major change of plans as Ds wants to go swimming becuase he was so enthused by his lessons. He will now go on to be a starfish!
So I brought all the wrong food for tea as I will only have 30 mins to put anything together before DH and myself go out. Lovely friend is coming over to babysit at short notice. She was very sympathic to our problems mid-week. Ds wouldn't stay with cousin up-town and we end up taking him out to a Spainish resturant with us!!!!

Tower of Laundry Half climbed
Bunkingham rubbish out done
recycle of the queen (papers)C/F
shopping of the guards done
A Parade of cannelloni with beef Ragu &spinach. For tea Too long to cook maybe Sainsbuys ready meal verison

Sorry no time to spell check as its broken!!

Oh dear Ruby, just sounds like positive parenting and generally being nice to me (in a wine sort of way ) Don't worry about it! Life's too short!
EV hope you're feeling better. Chris and Pui sounds good!
everyone hi
Well it's very snowy here and still going. Everyone else? We are just breakfasted and I am going to have a bath for a change. have a stinking cold and so does DD so don't think we'll be doing too much but DS is being very irritating (tired and bored) and DD very whiney and shouty (tired and not too well) so it'll be a fun day!
Fun day yesterday. SIL turned up to play with the children - her DH had walked out!! Looks like he is home until he finds somewhere to live but it isn't looking good atm. Blimey.

Right onwards and upwards, have a good day all.

Makingchanges · 21/02/2010 09:58

Crickey - We were up at 3 this morning with DD and nothing but at 7 when she got up we are deep in snow - I can't believe how quick that has come down. All plans DH had have been cancelled, DD was upset as she wanted to go swimming until DH told her we can have a day of fun in the snow so now she is excited about a snow man. I don't really do snow (Hate being cold) so I'm going to get on with my assignment in peace.

Ruby - People will just think you were enthusiastic. Sounds like fun to me

Wendy sorry about SIL. Hope you have a peaceful and relaxing day.

Hi to everyone else

Makingchanges · 21/02/2010 11:40

Well DH has walked up to local retail park and managed to get a sledge so he and DD are currently sledging round the garden, making a snowman and being snowballed by lad across the road. I've been out to take photos for grandparents and I've retreated back inside. DD is loving having Daddy to herself after his time away so i'll leave them to it. Now to find my book to get on with my essay!

dylsmum1998 · 21/02/2010 12:50

wow of those with snow i love to play in the snow, we only have rain here

have been to farmers market this morning haven't been there for a while am very chuffed with the amount i got for my money.

swanriver · 21/02/2010 19:46

yoohoo, Im back, in bed, hiding from children, dh has taken over, after week away from them/him, we had a great time, but a day of travel has knocked me out - I now crave total silenceand seclusion

you have all had v. interestingweeks
can't quite absorb in in one go,
MC we loved doing those parrots too
Star LOL at your Palace theme
ofm he needs you! the patients need you!
Happy birthday to your ddggie
Scatty lots of party conversations here - really dreading organising three parties in the next month - hope I can get away wth trip to cinema for dd, and ds2 wants a StarWars themed extravaganza party wth diff planet in every room [scarey emoticon] possibly try andt alk hm out of it
Ruby Lent is awfully long, takes a while to get used to it

Starbear · 21/02/2010 20:48

Hi all Will catch up tomorrow strangely of people with snow,MC,Wendy &OFM. You would think Mother nature would share it out around the country so we could all have fun/get on with life.
Wolf how are the bridemaids dresses going?
dyls Have decided DH will never help me with a boot sale so in the coming weeks its charity shop & dump trips for me!
Ruby Hope you've got over the vapours with kids shows. My mate has given up chicken for Lent. She doesn't really like chicken. But she hasn't given up cake biscuits or chocolate. I couldn't stop giggling!
Swan enjoy your Duvet evening
Little bear enjoyed the Chinese New year up town but still moaned that he didn't get to watch telly. If I was on my own I would sell telly!
Well going to cuddle DH on the sofa

swanriver · 21/02/2010 21:00

Star mine are just the same, I think they feel that telly is a kindly friend, patting them onhead. If you asked them what they had enjoyed about our glorious trip, they would have said, watching The Parent Trap twice.
You WILL survive renovation (well not you personally) dh's can be difficult, sometimes tears are the only answer.. I have managed to persuade dh (smiles not tears worked this time)this very day to
let me get rid of sandpit
make a new step in a flowerbed
and realign the borders luckily garden looks so horrid atm he doesn't feel so proprietorial

tis blissful being in bed..thinking exciting thoughts about cold horrid gardens but not being out in them

good night everyone

Wolfcub · 21/02/2010 21:02

star still nowhere with bridesmaid dresses.

Starbear · 21/02/2010 21:03

Swan I'm keen to get the garden in some sort of order and plant a few things for summer even if they are going to get squashed under rubble!
I must also keep to some sort of diet

dylsmum1998 · 21/02/2010 22:14

Swan glad you had a great time.

Star I am too lazy to do bootfairs, just not enough time in a week. So i stick things on ebay what doesn't go goes to charity shop. try only to dump that what is useless. ds's tv ancient and broken so that went, and his wrdrobe was falling apart have repaired it soo many times there was nothing else i could do to make it stand, so to the tip it has gone

can i ask hwo many of you ladies do/or have rented privately? I am in a HA flat at the moment and have been told i could be here another 2 years easily. It is tiny dd is still in my room we could all really do with more space, so am looking at private rentals to see if this is an alternative for us. I am however concerned that the ladnlord will sell on us so then i end up moving lots- something I don't want. I want to be able to move in somewhere and settle for years hwo likely is this in your experiences of private rentals?

Starbear · 22/02/2010 09:46

dylsmum Only experience of private rental very long ago. BUT friend who used to be our neighbour has moved 4 times in 5 years! Our previous neighbour rented to her. They now live in a house owned by a company not a private buy to let thing. She thinks she has a more secure tenancy. each of the others were individuals who couldn't continue to afford the 2nd property. Another friend rented from a very good friend of ours and theirs and he let the house became very very damp. To the point that their furniture got mouldy and their little one had a permanant cough!!!! I was about to write a letter to him (hoping it wouldn't damage our friendship) when they were successful in getting a 2 bedroom flat in a HA.
I would go for comapny owner ship or try to talk to the HA.
re e-bay don't understand it, would get conned by it, don't like strangers coming to my house! Pls be aware who you allow in your home under the banner of e-bay! Enough for today must get on with MONDAY see you over there
