Which Miele washing machine - basic model or lots of features

Just trying to work out if its worth paying extra to get more features on a Miele washing machine (although worried its my 40th birthday present!).

The basic model is only £700, but a time delay feature which I use alot on my very old Bosch adds £200. Is it worth it?

We've got the basic one and it's great. We had cheapie ones before and I will never go back

We only use about 3/4 programmes on it which is more than enough. It's very clever as it will shorten the cycle time automatically if needed. And it looks fab plus came with a super long free guarantee.

What do you need a time delay for? I have a time delay on my dishwasher but never bother.

If you use the time delay a lot, would it be worth investing in a timer switch (a couple of quid) rather than the extra £200?

you should shop around, some places match internet prices. we got ours for just over £500, about 18ms ago, by saying would you match the internet price from X website?
and dh managed to get free delivery and free removal of the old machine.

I've only ever experienced the basic models (my mum had one when I was living at home, then we bought one for our first house which is now rented to a tenant who uses it, then we bought another one when we moved to our current house). The one we've got now is fancier than the previous ones, I think because they've 'upgraded' the basic model over the years, and it has a 'time to run' display on it which I really like as you can see how long the wash is going to take before selecting a particular cycle. I've never had a machine with time delay so I can't immediately see what use it is, but if it's something that you personally like and find useful then have it - you'll likely have this machine for a long long time, so get whatever features are important to you. Having said that, the basic models are brill and do have a wide range of wash cycles including the economy quick wash and a delicate handwash cycle. I don't feel there's anything 'missing' from my basic model.
