decore help please

ok after few rough months things are looking up and long as everything goes ok will move into long term rent place on first March.Need some ideas on how to personalise it without spending lot of money .hve 4dc ds15 and ds13 will share attic room ,then dd7 own room ds4 own room and then finally my own room ,*excited about this as not had own bedroom in 7 years.
also computer/box room and nice size lounge but every room has plain blue carpet and can not afford replacing

and am reading net thread what else does anyone use .Ne something as down to rail crossing not far from ouse going to be at ceratin times of days cars outside and is bungalow so very visable

Could you try freecycle for things like rugs, curtains etc?

Also alternatives to nets - you can get voile which is just a sheer curtain. Or some cheap roller blinds with white sheer fabric. Ikea do nice ones. If you can get to ikea they also do cheap long white curtains which can be used instead of nets. They're about 2m long so you can cut to size and use iron on hemming tape (I've done this and it looks ok). Cheap white curtain wire is strong enough to hang it up.

How handy are you with a sewing machine? If you go to your local department store/curtain shop/haberdashery store you can get remnants -basically off cuts of material which are reduced and use them to make cushion covers. You could pick up some cheap cushions then re-cover them.

Pictures are another good way to personalise - some clip frames and get a load of pics of your family/fav places printed in bulk and hang them up? Or you can frame things like school certificates, posters from magazines etc?
