I've been eyeing up carpet sweepers

Are they any good? I keep imagining that I could give the house a quick go over with it before the dcs get home from school and the house will be permanently spick and span.
Am I kidding myself will it just end up sitting in the cupboard?

Get a roomba, and then you can come home to a nice clean house.

roomba is too much money and would probably scare the cat.

I have this www.lakeland.co.uk/lakeland-cordless-sweeper/F/keyword/carpet+sweeper/product/22228 and it does get used sometimes twice daily, it's great for hoovering around babies without sucking them up or scaring them. I would definitely recommend also good for older kids to clean up after themselves.
Only downside is dd has very very down to bottom long hair and it does get wrapped around rotating bristle brush and I have to periodically snip it off with scissors.
But is surprisingly powerful for what it is. I can't always be bothered to get big hoover out, but little carpet sweeper is no hassle.

The GTech carpet sweeper (stocked at Lakeland but cheaper at Amazon) is fab. Costs £35- is cordless and holds a charge for ages- and can be used without the long handle for the stairs. It's fab. I use it on all my floors but it is especially good on carpet.
