Shrew in the house! How do I get it out?

I have a shrew/ family of shrews (not sure which) living in the house. Because they're not used to being in houses, it just comes out to say hello when we're eating/ watching telly. Have had mice and fieldmice before, but have blocked their entry point with expanding foam, but this shrew is so tiny I think it can get through the tiniest hole.

Have tried traps with peanut butter, and neosorexa gold poison, to no avail.

It's driving me nuts... What do I do?

This may not help, but I'm guessing a cat would scare it away. We used to see lots of shrews in the garden, but they never came in the house with the cat there. Mind you maybe it would be worse to have dead shrew and a live cat.

I quite like the idea of a family of shrews coming to visit occasionally. Do they do any damage, or smell or anything?
Sorry, not v helpful.

I'd call the RSPCA for advice.

'British Shrews are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and it is an offence to kill them without a special license.'
