The Friday Mission

OP posts:
Simply · 12/02/2010 08:59

Good morning everyone. I'm just about to sit down with my cup of coffee having walked the dog around the village already this morning. See you in a bit!

OP posts:
swanriver · 12/02/2010 09:13

Simply thank you

Done
rest of lunchbox for ds1 school trip
rest of ds2's homework
rest of dd's homework
organized knapsack for ds1 who is going to a PALACE
everyone to school

Ds2 slept really well last night, and had to be woken at 7.40 - so my strategy is working, so far or was it leaving heating on automatic?
but unfortunately was expecting to get up really early so left most of muddle for the morning -

House is awful, and I feel a bit grim today, feel toothache brewing, period pains, [moan moan moan] but have taken some pills, and just having another cup of tea. BB when tidied up a bit.

Starbear · 12/02/2010 09:39

Morning all Thank you Simply Enjoy the coffee. Swan Wow! a bit of a lie in then. The muddles finished relax and again enjoy the tea. TG for morden pills
dyls re coat. I need a new coat too. I wear a woollen jacket and my big bum gets cold. Going to get a coat in September I think I'll just suffer this winter.
I have a plan I'm going to diet & exercise before going to Debenhams in about two weeks time. Then what ever my shape is I'm going to keep it until the clothes wear out!
Back in a mo with list and a cuppa.

Morning all

Thanks for all the kind words yesterday
swan yes indeed it is a wide ranging spectrum. TBHI have always thought that ds1 may be somewhere on the spectrum, but because he had no trouble at school, and at home was just "him"- not really negatively impacting with behaviour issues etc...never seemed any point to finding out.
I think for DD though it is impacting her life a lot more both at home and at school

I think that the most startling thing to come out of yesterday was that her natural intelligence is SO much higher than the level at which she is currently functioning at school. I think that for that reason her diagnosis will be helpful as I can start to fight for the right support for her to make the progress we now know she is capable of.
I do sadly suspect it is going to be a long battle....but I will get there...

star LOL at sausages V fish fingers, but I so know what you mean!

TMI also need to do some half term planning today

dyls coat sounds nice....I need a new coat

well I am feeling realy quite wrung out today.
House still a mess, am planning on just doing little 10 min stints here and there, as don't feel up to major tackling of the mess!

Am very glad it's half term next week!

Right, off to make a cuppa....

OverflowingMum · 12/02/2010 10:10

star your half term sounds fun!

swanriver · 12/02/2010 10:11

Kitchen almost tidy.

Weekend plans - absolute dossing as no classes for once - start doing ds1 Space project and enthuse him with wonder

Week - off to Eire again, mud, walking, grandma for a bit - then she's off on hols in middle of our visit, no dh, but more Space and space. No cousins there either, so we will have to be a fantastic team together

swanriver · 12/02/2010 10:35

OFM - one of the things I notice about ds2 is that he hates v. busy situations - he either tunes out completely, starts running wildly or screams. He tends to talk or shout AT people (including us)instead of listening, but he is v v affectionate with children younger than himself and loves explaining things to them. He gets v upset in playground if children won't play with him, but at the same time he sometimes annoys the other children in playground because he goes too close to them and shouts at them instead of waiting to answer. But he has two friends in school he likes playing with, one of whom he is obsessed by, and of course he loves playing with his siblings (though he does annoy them too alas) He loves information, acting, lessons, dancing, but his writing is very bad. He likes always to have a special person who he fixates on - grownup, teacher or child and then forms a very intense relationship with, rather than being someone who operates happily in a group, as he is not good as either master or servant in a group - too independent minded. He wants people to listen to him, but at the same time he doesn't have the charisma or social skills to be the leader.

Sorry to put this all into words, but he is such a wonderful child, and yet...not always quite like other little boys his age.

grouchyoscar · 12/02/2010 10:52

Thanks for the thread Simply

How do all

Sorry I've not been posting/reading. The school has had ofsted inspections this week and I've been helping out where I can.

House is an embarrasment but it will pull round quite quickly, if I can be bothered

I'm listening to some seriously great music at the moment, taking Ed here and there and learning to chill out a lot

Hope all of you are really well and happy.

Makingchanges · 12/02/2010 11:04

Morning all

A day off at last Yippee. Only thing I have to do today is take DD to nursery and pick up again.

Well - I got to my car after working in school yesterday afternoon to find that DH had taken the spare key, found where I was and put 2 bunches of flowers, a valentines card and a cadbury's cream egg (didn't want to ruin the diet) in the steering wheel. Inside the card were tickets to Pretty Woman att he cinema on Sunday (My all time fave film) and plans for a meal in a local restaurant. I feel a little awful for complaining at him that he had forgotten what romance was since we married.

Yes DD loved the disco. She danced with her friend who's mum was volunteering so really enjoyed it, she spent the whole time trying to show her friend the dance moves that she learnt in dance class.

Jobs to do today
-Washing
-May go out for a run or go to gym if I've got time while DD at nursery
-e-mail some local ballet classes to see if we can get dd in. We weren't going to but she is loving dance class and talks about ballet non-stop
-do missions from earlier in the week that I missed
-shopping for bread etc that didn't do yesterday
-still need to find some activities for dd for the hols - I've lived in Sheffield all my life but I think I don't notice the different things that can be done anymore

Must make lunch before nursery - BBL

scattyspice · 12/02/2010 11:12

Hi all. No school/work today so chance to catch up.

OFM What a difficult week you have had! It must have been difficult to hear that she has Aspergers (I was in an emotional spin just hearing that Ds had 'mild learning difficulties'). I really hope you have the support that you need.

swan your posts are always so insightful, you know your children so well .

We have had a crazy week with after school clubs and school disco and going to friends for tea. DC now seem to have very busy social lives which is great but takes a little adjustment. We seem to be entering the driving them around alot stage of parenting .

Today dc have a friend over then need to go to Lidl. Dh away Fri/sat. House is a tip (goes without saying lol).

To do
ironing
laundry
lidl

wendyhappysmile · 12/02/2010 14:49

Hi everyone
OFM keep up with the ten mins at a time! You'll get there and do some sewing! LOL
swan DS2 sounds like my DS. i used to worry he was autisitc when he was younger. I think now he is just very intelligent and thus is set apart from his peers and finds it hard to fit in. He too flies off the handle at the slightest provocation.
MC what a lovely DH!
tea cookies sounding good, hope you ok
scatty the social lives take over, don't they!
star your organised week sounds fab!

Right, car is almost packed, just getting ready to collect DS then WE ARE OFF ON OUR HOLIDAY! Sorry, very excited very giddy

May get a chance to log on sometime during the week, otherwise, happy half terms and see you next Friday.

Starbear · 12/02/2010 16:48

Afternoon all quick break before making tea
MC Wow a man that listened Have a lovely romantic time. I'm not going so any more as I'm always disappointed this time of year. I think I build it up in my head far too much.
OFM take it easy. News like that does take it out of a person and the grim weather. Someone suggest Cary Grant films and I might take the tip.
TM I also have a little guest but I didn't bake cookies
swan I love mud & walking oh! and anything to do with Outer Space. can I come?
grouchy I think I'm missing out I don't really listen to new music. Going to hunt out Funky Gibbon for LB

Food shooping Done
hairdressers Done
fold clothes (about to)
Do a house blitz done before going to gym Air quilt & bed linen Done
Off to make tea now.

Makingchanges · 12/02/2010 17:33

Starbear - I am at the gym. I had plans but DD wasn't right when I dropped her off at nursery and its about 25 minutes drive to get to the gym so I just did some chopping and other errands instead. DD is tired and complaining of a poorly back - I suspect from too much discoing yesterday. I may see if I can get tonight when DH comes home but I have got a session planned tomorrow when DD goes to dance class (if she is better) and my session on Monday so I may spend some time with DH instead.

Jobs

Washing
-May go out for a run or go to gym if I've got time while DD at nursery - On hold - Maybe tonight
-e-mail some local ballet classes to see if we can get dd in. We weren't going to but she is loving dance class and talks about ballet non-stop - Emails sent to two - one at gym and one more local but no replies and now its half term I may have to wait
-do missions from earlier in the week that I missed - In the middle of now
-shopping for bread etc that didn't do yesterday - Done
-still need to find some activities for dd for the hols - I've lived in Sheffield all my life but I think I don't notice the different things that can be done anymore - Still not done but have bought some nursery activity books from the cheap bookshop and a cookies and cakes receipe book to try out with her.

BBL after jobs

dcs have been doing improving activities [reading Dr Who Annuals, looking on Build-aBear website} but now I've given up and they are watchng telly.

feel cr**p and freezing cold, just forced myself to draw all bedroom curtains, and put some oven fish in - and make a few pathetic attempts towards dh's supper
either I need more codeine or bed

Wolfcub · 12/02/2010 19:09

That does sound like a nice day wolf, did you see any that you liked?

Am absolutely knackered! 1 extra child has tipped me over the edge (and he is lovely little boy). Respect to those with 3 kids (and more).

Dh has just gone on his climbing trip (will be camping tonight Brr).

I wonder how soon I can get dc in bed .

Makingchanges · 12/02/2010 20:38

Evening all

Well DD has gone to bed in tears after a nightmare kicking and crying fest. Either she is overtired from her dancing diva efforts yesterday or she is coming down with something. Hoping she has a good nights sleep either way.

I have just booked myself and DD tickets for Friday afternoon to see 'room on a broom' at Sheffield Lyceum. We have just read it to her and she loved it so I'm hoping that she enjoys this. Last time I took her to the theatre she cried but I am assured that this is made purposefully for age 3+. Grandparents are having her for one day and Monday morning so that we can go out on Valentines and I can go to my training session so only 2.5 more week days to think about (need to think of free activities though). I just wish DH wasn't going away for most of half-term week.

Done all mission activities this evening so kitchen is cleaner than its been in a long time - DH wanted to know what was wrong don't know what that says about the usual level of cleanliness.

Just put Schindlers list on so better get offline and start concentrating.

Wolfcub · 12/02/2010 21:50

scatty I did see a couple I liked but the prob with the outlets is the sizing. I can find plenty to fit my maid of honour and also dp's sister if she is able to come but I cannot find ones that would fit my other bridesmaid. The biggest size I found was an 18 and that just won't do. I think I may have to bite the bullet and pay full (high street) price for something.
