Having a new kitchen fitted soon and I still haven't chosen a hob.

I need a standard size one, gas, prob stainless steel though we have a glass one at the moment and I like how easy it is to clean...

Any recommendations?

I've got a Neff stainless steel one which I am happy with. I went for one with cast-iron supports rather than the flimsy looking ones - cost a bit more but felt it would be more durable. A friend advised me to get one with a wok ring which I did but tbh that ring seems to be quite hot so I don't use it much as things stick...

Thanks DecorHate. I've seen lots of wok rings about. I don't use my wok enough to justify giving it a whole ring to itself, partic if everything sticks, so will avoid!

I agrees wiht DecorHate. Have a Neff 5 burner. One of them is a Wok burner. Fasr too hot and it burns everything so I hardly use it! Neff stainless steel aspect fine though.

I have a Smeg 5 ring gas stainless steel job with wok burner in the middle. OMG can't believe how hot it gets. Fantastic for stirfries but burns anything other than a wok!

Easy clean and good looking. Had it 5 months and v pleased with it.

Got it from Sainsbury's Kitchen Appliances.

I got all my appliances from here. Phone them up for advce, they know their stuff plus once I had decided on makes and models they price matched the cheapest price I could find.

Just read what you said about giving it a ring to itself.Oops.

Mine has a double ring if that makes sense - an inner and outer one. Its very useful for large pots - I put a big casserole on it to warm it up for eg, you can just have the less fierce ring on and then its OK.

castille · 11/02/2010 17:34

A double ring would be ok, just not an wok exclusive!

Thanks all, I like the look of neff. Bit pricey but prob worth it.
