Morning swan and thanks for the thread.

Just bookmarking my place. I'll be back later. I didn't post again yesterday I don't think but I did read the rest of the thread. I'll try to keep up with the thread a bit more today!

Morning all

Wendy - It happens to everyone and will be forgotten soon enough. Have lots of cuddles with DD and hope you are feeling happier and DD better soon.

Swan - Enjoy your swim. I'm really envious as I would love to be able to swin but all attempts have so far failed as I am scared of the water. I would love to have a swim after a session at the gym though. One day I may try to learn again.

Wolf - I am so I really wanted to go and watch that film but have so far not managed to find the time. As usual by the time I get a spare evening it will probably be out on DVD

OFM - Good luck at your appointment

Hello to everyone else. I have read the thread from yesterday but I don't think I posted, although stopped by a few times, DD was demanding so had to read in dribs and drabs. Have bought a simply reward chart today as her behaviour is getting worse. I figure it is worth a try. Have dropped DD off early at GPs today and been to hairdressers, so feel a little relaxed this morning, for some reason I love someone else massaging my scalp when they wash my hair. I'm sure all my calm will be lost when I now tackle my jobs for the day

To Do

Rewash clothes in washing machine
sign language work for class tonight
make chicken pasta with left over chicken for DH tea tonight
school this afternoon
transfer dates into new diary as lost old one
find birthday present for dad
Ring nursery to find out about school disco that they told DD about so new we have to go apparently
clean out bath as it looks like the cat has been washed in there

That will do for now

Tort you are kind friend, hope it's fun having a little two year old around

MC - me watching film lst night, and Ruby glum not Wendy
you can still learn to swim, but maybe when things not so busy, it was heaven once I got in, though dreading it, warm water washing all one's troubles away. I think with los in tow can be stressful to start out, you need to choose a really quiet time when you can take things at your own pace, and not be splashed etc.

Ruby sure they are just laying down the law rather insensitively, and not being personal. You sound like you are the most conscientious worker they have!

Right have contributed to radical homemakers thread, and thought about economics/global affairs etc for 2 mins
been for 20 length swim with ds (he was frolicking
eaten porridge
did some library help when I dropped him off
now back to afternoon of

piano
recycling
boil potatoes for hash
piano lesson

pickup, piano lesson ds2
dd athleticspickup
then homework x 2
supper
Beavers/Brownies (Mad Men tonight?)

but you can still do a good job, and it is freedom of a different sort, not to be a high flier - work can be kept in its place

Missed your post Swan. I really love having a 2 yr old around again. But it is noce when he goes home! I foret how hard it is to do anything with a little one around. Although, when it's your own it's different i think.

Fridge now clean.
Cakes have been decorated (quick bit of coloured icing and sprinkles!)

Lunch next i think.

Just looked out the window to see a random snow shower! Not forecast any so sure it will stop as quickly as it started! I want sun not snow! Had enough of being cold lol!

swanriver · 10/02/2010 21:44

OFM that's an exhausting day
anyway sure that ds2 not delinquent just was being typical nearly two year old
and you had to deal with all the rest of the children afterwards as well, tomorrow may be better if dh is there.

Just been to Beavers, it was v draining - two difficult children there who needs loads of attention, and not enough fit volunteers really. I am learning a lot about group dynamics though, revving up and calming down etc...

Day has been good really, house still messy, but everyone in excellent spirits.
We had an unexpected guest at 5.00 which put paid to any homework or organisation, but the children loved talking to visitor so that's what life's about really

swanriver · 10/02/2010 21:46

Dylsmum what is your research project about? Did you tell me last year - if so, sorry...

OP posts:
dylsmum1998 · 10/02/2010 22:03

swan unexpected visitors are always great. dc love them

my research project is looking at what children would like in their school nursery outdoor environment. there is lots of research on what adults think the children should have so i am trying to find the childrens opinions .
i did some work with the children today discussing what they like etc about what they have. i used photos i have taken to prompt discussion and was very suprised by lots of children liking the picture which has the compost bin in the corner of it- i hadn't expected that
did expect the teachers responses to the outdoor area, the children werent involved at all in its development, parents were asked opinions but teachers and other 'high ups' overode the ideas.

its been a very interesting topic for me, and i have seen how the teacher would like to use the outdoor environment but she is limited to what she can do by other people. i think that is one area i am going to struggle as a teacher i am used to making the decisions, with my dc and those i used to childmind, and the only limits were funds and space. but i usually find a way round. not sure how poss that will be in a school

Makingchanges · 10/02/2010 22:20

I am sorry I mixed peoples names up thats what comes of rushing and not writing as I go along like I normally do. Argghh

Anyhow - Had a really rubbish afternoon at school and then a busy and frustrating evening at sign language. Have eaten rubbish all day and called at shop on way home for alcohol. I think i'm going to try to talk DH into an early night (not that 10.30 is early but I guess it is to us) and see if I can wake up any better tomorrow.

Hope all is well. Will catch up (and get peoples names right) tomorrow

Night all
