Ant infested walking boots

We live in the tropics (hot, damp, ant heaven) and we went on a lovely walk this weekend, left the boots to dry and lo! they are now infested with ants. What the hell can I do to get rid?

freeze them?

Spray them with ant killer?

Entice the ants out with jam?

Oooh hadn't thought of freezing

eyes freezer and wonders if DH boots will fit

Our ant killer isn't suitable for textiles unfortunately. They're horrid, tiny, microants so the jam thing probably won't work!
