Insulating a Washing machine from the cold - Ideas?

I need some ideas!

I have a washing machine that sits in a garage with a dryer & fridge freezer .. my kitchen is small(ish) so cannot house a washing machine & a dishwasher!

Thing is, with all the cold weather we have had, if the temperature drops below -2 it freezes!

Normally I just run some warm/hot water over the outside tap that feeds the machine and it gets moving eventually

When the temperature hit -7 I could not even open the soap dispenser as it had frozen solid!! I also had to defrost the inside of the machine plus the outflow pipe as that too had frozen solid!

I was desparate to do some washing so had to get the hair dryer (i know not advised where water is around!! ) on the back of the machine so any ice that was blocking the outflow shifted!

Now it seems that we are due for yet another cold snap, so any ideas on keeping the machine frost/ice free?

I really dont think the cycle of freezing/defrosting/freezing is doing the already ancient machine any favours!
