Might be the wrong place to post this since you are all so good BUT where do I get a cleaner?

And how much do they cost?

We want someone to do the hoovering, mopping, sweeping type jobs and clean bathroom & kitchen.
Neither of us mind washing clothes & pots but the bigger stuff just gets shoved aside and since we can afford it why not

Ask around friends and neighbours, that is how we found ours.

No idea what they cost in UK, I am in Switzerland and she is bloody expensive but worth it.

Ask around - far better to get someone by reccomendation than from an advert.

You slattern!

Agree recommendation is best but otherwise call a franchise such as Merry Maids. They are fairly expensive but haven't heard a bad report about them.

Nymphadora · 08/02/2010 10:43

Have asked around but a lot of Dhs staff do cleaning for people and we don't particularly want one of them!

Will look up Merry maids and see if they cover my area.

Do you have a local magazine/newspaper someone might advertise in? I clean some places locally and charge £10 an hour, but you could get away with paying less.

Nymphadora · 08/02/2010 10:51

I was thinking about £10 an hour.
How long would the above jobs take? Kitchen is small. Bathroom reasonable size with bath & shower. 3 bedrooms, 2 living, 3 floors so lots of stairs.

I would say 3 hours a week. I'd do it for you but Cumbria's a bit of a commute for me!

Nymphadora · 08/02/2010 14:49

Sure? Save me advertising!

Also thought of windows, we have 12 panel sash windows & they are a pita to clean could add them on as well.
