How do YOU wash you washable doormat?

I use washable doormats because they are thin enough to go under my door whilst also being absorbant and non slip on tiles. I used to wash them in the washing machine (padded out with old towels) but this quite often broke the paddles on the washer although they do come up like new. If you have them do do you handwash yours?

Paddles in the washer? Are you the USA dealing with a top loader?
No paddles in my front loader...
Could you set the spin speed down to low, maybe?

I \Heart/ my washable floor mats.

I've washed mine in the washing machine (front loader, low spin speed), but TBH I don't bother any more - just put them over the washing line and give them a good beating if I'm in the mood. Or whack them against the side of the house.

Am in the UK with a Hotpoint Aquarius machine (front loader) Good point about the spin speed as I usually have it on fast.
