There are a number of cures for it - put it in the airing cupboard or in a tupperware box full of rice after you have taken out the battery and had dried all the component parts...

Really that advice is for a brief dunking though...

Put it into a bowl of (uncooked!) rice, it will soak up the excess water...although tbh I don't think it will work for a phone thats been in the washing machine

My ds was ill two weeks ago and whilst I was puting bedding into the machine that he had chucked up on, I managed to also bundle my mobile phone in. ( Theoretically, my ds could have done it, but i think he was too ill/ just lying on the sofa, so I really think it was me!)
As soon as I could get the phone out, I pulled all the bits apart... battery/ sim card etc and put them on the radiator to dry out.
The next day, it looked ok... but wouldn't work.
I took it to my local O2 shop to see if they could rescue the sim card as i accepted the fate of the phone... they tried it but no chance.
I had to buy a new phone/ sim card, they did manage to transfer my number and balance from the old sim card. But photos/ phone numbers all gone.

I washed dh's fancy nokia last year. Realised fairly early in the cycle, so drained the machine and took it apart and dried it in the radiator. It was fine - battery life not great but he bought a new one.

dotn turn it on and do the rice thing - mine fell down the loo and after 3 weeks in the airing cpboard it worked again though the camera part didnt - i also took sim out straight away and used it in an old phone.
