I want to know all the housework jobs you do and how often you do them. Thank you

OK - I will tell you what I do but I warn you I am a bit of a slattern and I am sure lots of very lean people will be along shortly to tell you they do stuff much more often!

Daily - wash all pots and wipe surfaces, sweep downstairs floors (wood), wipe sink, clean toilet if needed, make beds

Weekly - clean bathroom properly, vacuum upstairs and stairs, change towels, wash wooden floors

Fortnightly - change sheets (do ours one week and dcs alternate week)

Think that is the main things!

RupertTheBear · 31/01/2010 18:41

And I am sure those lean people will also be clean (sorry - sticky c on keyboard!)

lambanana · 31/01/2010 18:43

washing clothes - every day

clean sink - every day

clean bathroom - once a week

beds - made every morning as soon as we get up

dishwashwer emptied and kitchen cleaned as soon as I get back from school run

dusting/ironing - every week

change beds - every fortnight

wash towels - once a week

hoover living room - once every 2 days (everywhere else once a week)

mop kitchen - once every 2 days

tidy up toys - every night when dc's are in bed

lambanana · 31/01/2010 18:44

Your routine is the same as mine Rupert!

Pannacotta · 31/01/2010 18:45

My routine same as the others, also do a wash every day but dont clean the floors as much as lambanana.
But I am deffo no domestic goddess!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 31/01/2010 18:50

This is a great

Once DD and DS1 are in bed I will be making notes.

OP posts:
lambanana · 31/01/2010 18:50

oh Panna its only a little bit of kitchen floor and I have got one of those bissell wet and dry mops! I only do a full mop (with disinfectant and hot water about every 6 months!

I consider what I do to be satisfactory but not exemplary (sp?)

RupertTheBear · 31/01/2010 20:09

Wow - I feel so much better. I was sure I would ome back to this thread to find lots of horrified people who change their beds twice a day and wash the floors hourly!

bumpybecky · 31/01/2010 20:15

I've got a tick sheet

it's based on the flylady thread from moneysavings expert, but seriously cut down as I had a long version and it was really depressing when I barely started it!

it's in excel, would you like me to email you a copy?!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 31/01/2010 20:18

That would be great, becky, thank you. I have CAT.

OP posts:
aSilverLining · 31/01/2010 20:22

I used to do a tick sheet too, a really simple one so that I felt pleased with myself that I had done my jobs for each day.

Mine are

Daily - wash pots, clean kitchen surfaces, load of laundry (not actually daily as only me and DS and I can do an 8kg load), litter tray, wipe kitchen sink and bathroom sink after use, rubbish and recycling out each morning, air house.

Once a week - hoover through house and mop hard floors, clean bathroom and toilet thoroughly, wash sofa throws.

Fortnightly - change bedding.

I suppose it depends on how many dcs you have, if you have pets, how often you are all home, etc. When I lived with x house was much busier and I did a lot more housework seeing little results, now I do less and see results.

bumpybecky · 31/01/2010 20:23

erm I don't have cat, but if you email me I'll send it back I'm bumpybecky at ntlworld dot com

I am so sad!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 31/01/2010 20:27

I have emailed.

Thanks.

I seem to run around chasing my own tail most days. I only work part time, but still not enough hours in the day.

15-times a day - pick up cushions from floor where boy have deposited them

Daily - cook,
wash
dishes
pick up crap
rant to all and sundry about crap

3 times a week - bathroom, kitchen swiping

once a week - floors
more ranting
beds

everything else - depends on phase of moon and sunshine availability...

threetimemummy · 01/02/2010 08:13

Ok I have a tick list too...

BUT I am a SAHM with a 2yr old and 4 yr old (and one on the way ) so the boys are in and out all day and generally very boisterous!! Plus we have WHITE kitchen floors

It looks a lot but it really is only a little. For example I get up brush teeth (cant function therwise!!) then make bed and walk from bedroom to bedroom befor eI have even gone downstairs..than upstairs is pretty much done even before brekkie and it literally takes less than 5 mins!! I still do loads of lying around playing with the kids!!

Plus the boys are good t helping They know to take their pates to the sink at night, put their clothes n the hamper, put clean clothes on the end of the bed to be worn again, will quite often 'help' unpack the dishwasher while i make brekkie/coffee and we have a tidy up the toy routine at night as well. Good storage helps.

I have also ot a storage hanger thing, and I put 5 outfits ready for the week, so they can go and get dressed while I am in the shower. This helps as they always know where there clothes are and in the mornings I can just grab it and not have to tress about finding outfits. i dont do this on the week end tho!! As I put away the washing during the week, i just refill the slots. All the other clothes (spares etc) are kept in underbed storage so they are out of the way. I do a oad of laundry a day.

Changing sheets etc is around once a week, more for DS2 who refuses to wear a nappy to bed

BUT BUT BUT!! I can do all this but it is the BIG stuff I fall down on.. like washing walls and windows, I need to clean the oven..etc.

Entry Areas
Sweep
Tidy Shoe mat

Kitchen
Wipe down counters
Wipe down sink
Unpack Dishwasher
Repack dishwasher with brekkie/lunch etc
Sweep floor/Mop
Take out rubbish
Start dinner

Living Areas
Vacuum/Mop
Pick up miscellaneous clutter
Wipe down Dining Table
Wipe down TV table
Dust

Bedrooms
Make beds
Pick up laundry and put in hamper
Hang clothing that can be worn again
Remove water glasses to kitchen

Bathrooms
Wipe down counters, sinks, toilets
Hang towels to dry
Pick up laundry and put in hampers

Laundry
Wash
Hang out/Collect in
Fold/Iron
Put away

threetimemummy · 01/02/2010 08:47

Also just had a though..I dont do one thing at a time..t saves you time then, if that makes sense?

For example, I fold the washing as the DC's are in the bath. I just sit in the doorway on the landing and sort into piles. Then while they are getting dressed i put away the piles.

For breakfast, I have a tray that I load up with all our brekkies (weetbix, ruit and yoghurt fr all three of us) then carry that into the dining room. The DCs ten eat and when they are finished they take their plates to the snik, but I can whip around pick up all yoghurt pots, spoons cups etc in one go and only do one trip to the kitchen, so less chance of getting distracted.

gotta go, dcs calling!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 01/02/2010 12:56

Haven't done my list but I have spent all morning cleaning and tidying my bedroom and hoovering the landing and stairs. I have done 3 wash loads too.

OP posts:
Ivykaty44 · 01/02/2010 13:04

today I have:

vacumed the whole house, including the stairs and some cobwebs.

dusted the whole house - but not doorframes today.

cleaned kitchen worktops and sink.

washed bedlinen in two out of three bedrooms and it is drying now.

changed dd1's bedroom round as the bed was against radiator and making the room cold. so cleaned and hoovered here aswell.

did all the mirrors in the house with glas cleaner

I do what needs doing every two to three weeks and sometimes four

Ivykaty44 · 01/02/2010 13:05

oh and dd1 cleaned the bathroom last night

ChairmumMiaow · 01/02/2010 14:01

You've inspired me to get back into some sort of routine. I already have a small flylady style list with a bedtime and morning routine, and I need to get back to it (I have slowly been adding stuff instead of vegging in an exhausted haze), and I've managed to do some stuff in between reading DS's stories
