Hi Shiny,
I dont know which one is best but I have an upright Vax 1500wat bagless. Suction is great. All the extra bits are fitted onto it so they are right to hand when needed. The hose attachment is bayonet fitting. Had it about 5 years and still going strong. It does both laminate and carpet ok. It has 2 handles/slots for lifting it which are just where they need to be - it made me wonder if it was designed by a woman or at least by someone who actually uses one!

The only down side is the hose attachment is not long enough and I end up with the machine wedged against my legs when doing the stairs. Have just sorted this by buying a hose extension.

I'm sure someone else will respond to add theirs.
