Does anybody speak French? Instructions confusing me...

I just bought a couple of those eco wash ball thingies off ebay, the kind that last about 1000 washes.

However the instructions are only in French, and my grasp of the language doesn't extend beyond asking someone to pass the butter!! I presume you just stick them in the machine with the dirty clothes, but I don't want to do the wrong thing, so would be grateful for a rough translation of the following...

Many thanks!!

Roughly....

  1. Insert the ball in the washing machine at the same time as the clothes
  2. For a load of more than 5kg use 2 balls
  3. Don't use any additive (softener, stain remover) which could make the wash ball less effective
  4. For stubborn stains, we would advise soaking the stained item separately with your usual stain remover and then after rinsing, putting it in with the rest of your washing and the wash ball.
  5. Take the ball out of the washing machine and expose it to daylight once a month to maintain its effectiveness.

  3. remove any other washing powder stuff which will diminish the efficiency of the ball
  4. for stubborn stains we recommend you wash separately then after rinsing put in with rest of washing

Does that sound right? I'm a bit rusty.

woops! cross-post.

Wow, that was quick!! Thanks very much.

Would you say that means I shouldn't use fabric conditioner with them, or just that they shouldn't be used with other washing powder?

I think it would be OK to use fabric conditioner as that only gets added after the clothese have already been washed. I assume it means water softener perhaps?

peasandbeans · 26/01/2010 18:00

no, it says not to use softener: adoucissant means softener ie fabric conditioner, and would need to be qualified to mean water softener specifically.

everylittlebeat · 26/01/2010 21:04

well that's what I thought too, but how could fabric conditioner interfere with how the wash ball works?
