My brand new gorgeous lovely smooth delicious solid oak kitchen table has just been delivered (Can you tell I'm happy?) It's the first time we've ever owned a table that is not from Ikea so I actually want to learn how to take care of it properly rather than just let layers of filth accumulate. Any top tips?
I have a 21mo DS who eats with, erm, gusto, and we will be using the table for breakfasts, lunches and dinners most days plus for messy stuff too like art so it is going to get a fair amount of food/gunk on it. Ideally I don't want to have to hide the table with a tablecloth as we bought the table because the wood is so beautiful and I don't really "do" tablecloths, but I will invest in something for art stuff.
The table is solid oak and looking at the paper layered on top, it has recently been oiled.
How do I care for it - just soap and water after meals? Oil it ever? Any other top tips?
