storage for DD's rpom

Evening all,

I need some advice, re storage for my DD's bits and bobs.

She has loads of different kinds of toys, and lots of teddies, I need some form of storage suggestion. We live in a 2 bed end of terrace, and her things are migrating all over the house!!!

Her room is a big double room, and her clothes fill a chest of drawers, and lots of her toys are sorted into plastic stoarge boxes which are labbelled. But what about all the bits of hair clips / necklaces / play food / dolls clothes / dolls house bits / random plastic things?????

I need a system.... direct me holds credit card in anticipation

and books - and random things, and teddies.... apart from the big plastic play tubs, as I have 4 filled ones.

We have a tall trofast thing which is great as you can put some things up on the high shelves that they can't get to without asking! Also one of those things like from GLTC with the open small boxes.

Trofast can have any combination of huge crates and very shallow ones.

Then we have a small book case for books, puzzles and games

I already have one of those things from GLTC

and the trofast thing from ikea lasted 3 months, then I moved house and it died... and its fairly expensive for what it is?

What did you do it???? I've had mine about 7 years and are absolutely fab still (have 4 dds so they do get well used)

GLTC do some similar sort of storage cubes.

try expedit from ikea [http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70103085] we have this with baskets and have it on its side, so you can put all the bits away and have the bigger dollshouse type things on the top. it is very strong and when she is bigger you can stand it up ways and use it as a bookcase.

As my kids share a room, we had to be really creative with storage. Wall storage and under bed solved our problem.

We have canvas wall storage, the flat things with pockets on that you can either hang over the door or put on hooks. I got them on ebay.

We also have racks of coat pegs and we hang little cloth bags on these, and each contain a different type of toy. The cloth bags are typically pyjamas bags, book bags etc.

Under bed storage boxes did wonders.

We have book cases from Verbaudet on the walls (not in child height) and they don't just store books, also games and puzzles - all the stuff you want to be able to put out of their reach ;)

Ds has a teeny little room but high ceiling, so we have got bunk beds to maximise height, he has a bit more room that way, also a huge victorian school dresser (which doesn't even come apart, it's 7ft6 tall, 4ft6 wide v v heavy!) and stick loads of stuff on that on the shelves.
The bottom bit is a cupboard and put boxes in that.

We do have a toy problem though, ie they get into the living room as his room is so small, we use a large tub with handles, and have a sort out once in a while so everything goes back where it belongs...also they have a makeshift playroom in the conservatory, which basically is a small second hand chest of drawers, some more plastic tubs and a big table to draw on.

If she has loads of nick nacks, drawers are the way forward imo. You can get little bedside type size ones in charity shops etc, boot fairs...and paint them pretty colours if you want to.

Also what helps is keeping their clothes in a chest of drawers in the hall...it's a flat so between my room and theirs,

makes it easier to sort the clothes for me, and more toy room for them in their room.

But sounds like your dd's room is big enough for both.

I also agree about having a tall chest of drawers both for keeping clothes in and stuff you want less accessible in the top drawers out of reach. You need to make the most of height in rooms.
