Damp prevention in cold porch?

Hi all,
We have just realised that the porch on our new house gets extremely cold at night and is prone to damp. Unfortunatly that is where we have our shoe and coats storage!!
I've given it a good clean out but can anyone recommend a cheap soloution to the damp problem...I can't have a dehumidifier out there as there is no socket.
Any ideas?

Wilkinsons do little damp catchers. They are plactic boxes with the crystal-type stuff in tat collect water and you empty them every so often, and can buy new crystals to refill with. They also smell quite nice too.

Sheesh my typing has gone to pot. I mean plastic and that.

Hi Chillo,
Thats great, thanks for the advice. I'll get the MIL to pop down to her local Wilkinsons and pick us some up!

You're welcome. We had a very damp cupboard in our old place (it had what appeared to be a manhole in it - very odd) and at first things kept going mouldy and damp, but it all stopped once I popped one of the damp catchers in. I had to keep remembering to empty the water though.
