laundry disaster! help!

I stupidly put brand new White Company bed linen in the tumble dryer with dark blue jeans.... and as you can guess, the colour has run.

Obviously the sheets were dry before I discovered this, but I put them straight back in the machine with some "rescue it" but there are still random blue stains all over the place.

Any ideas how to get them white again?

Or am I doomed and must confess all to DH!?!

soak in dilute bleach?

callmeovercautious · 21/01/2010 20:55

Milton fluid is good?

CMOTdibbler · 21/01/2010 20:57

You need some of the colour run rescue stuff - you have to soak the item in it. Worked well on my last disaster

Washersaurus · 21/01/2010 20:57

You can buy some colour run stuff to put in the washing machine, it worked for me - I dyed all DS1's light coloured clothes pink

Washersaurus · 21/01/2010 20:58

Hehe CMOT, we obviously have a similar approach to laundry ...

it only happened once, honest

gosssipgirl · 21/01/2010 21:00

I have already used the colour run rescue stuff in the machine, it did help but there are still a few stains...

So bleach or milton... hmmm...

DH is going to kill me!

The one that used said that you may need to do use it a couple of times - I think I did 2 washes with it.

I have always found soaking things in bio-tex to be very effective too.

gosssipgirl · 21/01/2010 21:15

Ok I will get another rescue it tomo and try again before resorting to bleach/milton.

Bugger bugger bugger. What an idiot!

It def needs to soak rather than just wash

gosssipgirl · 21/01/2010 21:22

Ok, might have to soak it in the bath then... or do you mean "soak" setting on washing machine?

OP posts:
CMOTdibbler · 21/01/2010 21:37

In the bath - the last dark blue on white accident took the max recommended soak time to come out

Washersaurus · 21/01/2010 22:37

I have also used the Oxi white powder for soaking which was quite successful (soaked for max time given on pack)

OK I have had a few incidents with my washing, but not all colour runs

gosssipgirl · 22/01/2010 13:09

soaking as we speak....

Suggest that you soak in a scoop of vanish powder bleach. Use hot water in the bath/sink and leave soaking 12 hours, then wash in 95C cycle with a whites detergent with more vanish powder. After a couple of further whites cycles the blue should be out. Good luck. (smile)
