What is the best Carpet sweeper ?

as i have a upright hoover but its 1900 watts and is crippling my electricity bill atm as i used the hoover every day as due to having a dark green carpet and 2 little ones!

Just looking for an everyday hoover to hoover up bits off the carpet/vinyl flooring.

I have a ewbank. I used to use it daily on my rugs and a long-handled dust pan and brush for the kitchen lino (and some times the brush on the rug by the front door). I was always suprised by how much fluff and dust it had picked up when I came to empty it!!

My aunt bought my one from a carboot for a couple of quid. Might be worth a look in charity shops or car-boots if anyone is brave enough this time of year!!!

is a manual or a electric is best?
