Anyone know what in my washing machine is tearing my clothes?

Every so often a piece of clothing is torn when I get it out of machine - I thought it was buttons or something on other clothes but have just done a wash that was entirely button free and DD's swimming cossie has come out ripped. Anyone have an idea what could be causing this? I also thought maybe I was overloading but wash I just did was only half full. All sorts of material has been ripped - my thick cotton shirt, DP's football shirt, tea-towels and now swimming costume. Only happens now and then, not every wash.

Would love to know why this is happening and how I can stop it. Anyone know??

Look for a tear/snag in the drum itself. We had this with our old machine. Clothes kept coming out with rips in. One day during a spin cycle there was a huge bang and when we opened the machine there was a MASSIVE rent in the drum

OK, thanks. I'll have a good look in there. Don't s'pose anything can be done about it then?
