I have a dyson....its OK but things keep getting stuck up the hose (plus it keeps over heating and cutting out which is the reason I need a new one). Bottom half of house is wood, top is carpet.

Henry
It is the builders choice of hoover

I have a Dyson. It's in the garage. I refuse to buy a second plastic hose at £20-odd which will inevitably split after a few months' use.

Instead, I've got myself a lovely, new Henry. Brilliant vacuum... and cute little face, too

Another vote for Henry.
Much better than our Dyson which blew up a few years ago.
And my 3 yr old loves him!

mumof2teenboys · 19/01/2010 09:56

Much as I wanted to hate him, our Henry is the best thing we have ever bought!

izzybiz · 19/01/2010 14:14

My Henry is over 10 years old and still going strong!

I've got a 10 yr old Dyson - upright in natty green and purple! I havent had any bother with it since I bought it so I'd vote Dyson.

Miele Cylinder vacuum cleaner - best purchase I've ever made.

Our house is also wood downstairs and carpet upstairs and my Miele is great on both surfaces.

Ok, got to buy bags but there's none of the hassle of cleaning out a dusty compartment every couple of weeks and I find it has better suction power than either my previous Hoover or Dyson bagless ones...its top power is too strong for me to use as it lifts up the carpets and I can't move the vacuum head.

Loads of attachments come free and wide variety of filters available depending on what you need (eg cat and dog hair, cleaner air etc).

Can't believe I'm so excited about our vacuum...

ahhhh henry the hoover of builders and Mumsnet it seems....shall investigate further...

thanks
