wolf Yay to the speedy pampering, hope you don't get weed on.You have reminded me to paint my toe nails .

Went swimming this morning but had to get out as a little one had been sick in the pool! DD did not handle the disappointment and ensuing chaos (30 odd mums and kids hitting the changing room at the same time!)well. I had to remind her (quite loadly ) that she wasn't the only person inconvenienced and the poor child hadn't been sick on purpose! She is not good in crisis unlike dyls ds.

List:
ironing - in hand
pack up stuff from DCs shelves
ds homework - nearly done
dd words
hoover - 1/2 done
recycling - done

swanriver · 17/01/2010 15:23

TM - there was a big Cafod collection for Haiti in church this morning. Feel frightened to tell dcs the details in case they think our house is going to fall down or we might die, but at the same time I was struck by how spoilt they are and how they just expect to get whatever they want, cakes, drinks, treats. It's hard isn't to explain that THEY are safe, but that all around people suffer terribly and how lucky THEY are.

Uh oh Wolf - at least he's asleep now.
Pampering - you are right! Easily done - what have we got to lose by doing it?
That what is so amazing about dd, she has understood the importance of grooming rituals - more than just keeping clean.

Done today
lots of walking
church for self and dcs
dh made lunch [hurrah - most unusual]
ds dropped at a party
stay and chat at party and consume 2 glasses of red wine [oops]
back home for bit of lunch, need to go and pick him up on foot shortly

otherthanthat, nothing done

Swan we had to turn off the news as DS2 was very upset, we dont normally have it on, but wanted to watch the news

my lunch and other bits sorted for work tomorrow
internet banking

trying to get through to ds is like talking to a brick wall at teh moment.

TeaMonster · 17/01/2010 18:04

Wolf Tried that first , this is the forth clean, it was two 4 pinters, both lids were lose. Horrendous.

This afternoon has been nice

wendyhappysmile · 17/01/2010 18:37

TM carbolic soap, my answer for everything and always works. let me know if you can't get will post you some. Wet with soapy water with a sponge, then lather the carbolic soap on the wet patch by rubbing it on. Leave to soak. Rinse off. Vac when dry. Never failed yet. Glad stuff arrived ok.

DD was sick this morning at 5 am, Mum texted me at 10.30 to tell me but my phone was in the porch so didn't find out til an hour later when we were just about to go and change something at the shop. Sometimes! She hasn't been sick again yet but then that was 20 hours or so between sicks. Honestly these sick genes she has inherited from DH - she is sick nearly every week just from being tired, excited, tense ...

Swan I have let DS watch some of the news and explained it to him, how we don't really get earthquakes etc, showed him how far away Haiti is on the globe etc. Straight away he disappeared and arrived with his money box wanting to give money to the people. I was and proud.

Wolf I am planning a bath with a Lush product later! and possibly a quick manicure - my hands are badly neglected.

BBL

wendyhappysmile · 17/01/2010 18:41

Wolf I got married on a Saturday and bought my dress at 4.30pm Thursday. Does that make you feel any better? The bridal shop in Ossett is very good if you fancy a visit to Ossett would love to come and help!!

scattyspice · 17/01/2010 19:08

List:
ironing - done
pack up stuff from DCs shelves done
ds homework - done
dd words - done
hoover - 1/2 done - tomorrow
recycling - done

Wolfcub · 17/01/2010 19:08

Oooo wendy that sounds good. Just out of interest where did you get your dress from?

swanriver · 17/01/2010 19:09

Slight improvement in tidying situation here, really felt like giving up earlier..
NOTHING GETS SHIFTED UNLESS I SHIFT IT - I really notice this when I'm out most of the day leaving dh in charge of someone or other...every tiny detail remains the same as it did five hours earlier - dishcloth draped over chair, butter next to cooker, envelope on floor..sweet paper on floor of hall..wellington boot askew on doormat. I'm sure some of you are familiar with this

But he made some delicious lunch and cleared dishes, so shouldn't grumble and is now putting dcs to bed They have been v. trying today, all jealous of each other.
I told dh we need a indoor weekend strategy - some little project/plan/game which we have up our sleeve rather than relying on them playing peacefully.

Have put some more recycling in corner
Hung up clothes in our bedroom
Threw away some old paperwork from bedroom
added to pile of clean dry laundry
avoided snacks
avoided rows
made a pile of mending to rejuvenate some clothes with broken zips, loose linings, no buttons etc

that is very sweet of your son Wendy, you should be v proud indeed

evening all

wendy how kind of your ds, that really is lovely. where do you buy carbolic soap is it likely to bring my manky living room rug up- nothing else seems to clean it!

scatty poor dd must have been very frustrating for her having to get back out the pool

have had a busy day added to this mornings list i hav also

been to tesco
had a very fun swim with dc
dinner
wash up
more washing
more ironing
more tidying
more hoovering
built 2 lego houses with dd

wendyhappysmile · 17/01/2010 19:55

I get carbolic from the local independent DIY shop, one of those old fashioned shops that sells everything.

dyls you have done lots of lovely things with dc today as well as being busy!
wolf I got married in Durham so it was a little shop there.
swan I am working on just saying to myself that it is easier and better to just pick up stuff/move it etc etc rather than rant about it which gets everyone upset. Easier said than done really.

Well, off to watch Lark Rise. Been on a recipe spree on the internet. Will report back on results!

Night all.

OverflowingMum · 17/01/2010 19:57

wolf pampering sounds good. Sewing was my treat today!

swan I know EXACTLY what you mean about no-one shifting things. you could have been describing my house when i go out! Indoor weekend plan sounds good idea, think we need one too!

TM cinema sounds fun, and yay for good boys in shops!

wendy poor dd, hope she's OK now...

dyls you have been busy!

Fairly pleasent day here...DH let me have some time off for good behaviour LOL So I did some sewing of pretty things! which I quite enjoyed.

Need to reboot laundry and do quick tidy before bedtime, but first going to do some knitting

BBtomorrow

Starbear · 17/01/2010 20:09

Evening all TM I still have a blood stain on a cream carpet! DH stubbed his toe on a step which had an inbedded nail. IF! he didn't hop over to see me for sympathy it wouldn't be there now! Don't know how to get rid of that either, have tried twice.
I have always told ds to be grateful of what he has, as children in Afica.... The other week (before this news) dinner was on the table and he shouted at his cousin 'Bella, sit down there are children in Africa that aren't as lucky as us so, you have to sit down! I couldn't let him watch the news in was bad enough with the Polar bears!
Wolf I put make-up on and a dress! Wedding outfit from Monsoon
Right
presents wrapped done
Party attended done
friend visited & present given Done
Ds homework done
Dinner made done
Kitchen tidy done
hob cleaned done
floor brushed & mopped Done
have a lovely evening

Starbear · 17/01/2010 20:11

Wolf Aren't we sad spending on food instead of lovely clothes for our selves! Sad thing is food always fits

TeaMonster · 17/01/2010 20:32

Wendy Yes please to the soap. Also I need some DD measurements please

Star We wouldnt let them boys whatch the news, they are both very perceptive and we try to be honost with them within reason.

We all sat and watched the 3 musateers and then boys in bed. it was lovley, really nice to just be.

I havnt spoke to mum for over a week nad I am in no hurry to start agruing again

Wolfcub · 17/01/2010 21:03

star I am definitely of the spending on food over clothes variety it shows in my waistline!

Starbear · 17/01/2010 21:19

Wolf Had a lovely chat with a skinny Mum at the party today. She told me to forget dieting and go for the 'Nigella' Look. Stick bust out and waist in I now need the money to afford her clothes and stylist but it's a thought 'Skinny Mum' really was funny and I think she's beautiful not because she was skinny but lovely smile and nature
But we should both go out and at least get ourselves some nice jeans. I've posted on a thread I'll give you the results

dylsmum1998 · 18/01/2010 08:54

this way for mondays home bleurgh
