How can I remove water marks from a glass vase?

I have a lovely glass vase that I used to grow bamboo in. The bamboo finally gave up the ghost and now the vase looks ruined. Hwo can I get all the stains from where the water has been? It's narrower at the top than at the bottom, so I can't get in to give it a good scrub.

I find Steradent tablets (the ones for soaking false teeth!) good for cleaning vases.

Once it's had a good soak you can rinse and then give a good shake around with soapy water and some grains of rice which give a bit of abrasion.

I think you can buy special cleaning grains to use instead of the rice, probably Lakeland would be your place.

Thanks Montifer - I've already tried washing powder and bicarb so was thinking I'd have to bin it. I shall ask my nan for one of her steradent instead
