Washing Machine Recommendations

Mine is in the process of giving up the ghost - have only been able to use the woolwash cycle since before Christmas.

Anyone got a machine they love? My only real request is for a quiet(ish) spin cycle - it's in the kitchen and I don't like to feel as if I'm in a plane taking off!

Thanks in advance!

Zanussi have a machine with a night setting so it doesn't spin and all is quiet. It keeps the water in the machine and turns it now and then so the clothes do not crease at the end of the cycle. In the morning when ready, you turn it to spin to finish clothes off and hang them out. I often used this cycle in the day! LOL

This machine had all the bells and whistles with even a sport shoe cycle among other things.

This machine was at a flat we rented for a year, so I cannot tell you the model as we've moved now.

But here we have a Bosch and it's lovely but not as many functions as it's the Classix one. I think when you get to Curry's and start looking you'll be amazed at the choice nowadays. I think most machines have a quiet cycle on them, but I could be wrong...

I love my Miele. Like the Zanussi, you can do a hold thing so it doesn't spin til you want it to, but it's not that noisy anyway. Have had it 9 years now and never let me down. (Had previously got through 3 in 4 years.) Every now and again John Lewis have them with a 10 year parts and labour warranty, so while they are dear to start with, yearly costs has been far less than my Hotpoint or Indesit.

John Lewis own brand (tis actually one of the big names, can't remember which). We have had a John Lewis washing machine (great but left in in our house when we moved) and now have one of their dishwashers

Thanks folk - I guess my original plan of going to John Lewis and picking one randomly is not altogether wrong!

Miele. I have used and abused (i.e. overloading it) mine for ages and I love it. It's reliable, quiet and the thing I also really like is that - you know when you put a load on and then find more washing? You can open the door!
It does cost a bit more but worth every penny. It's the only appliance I really rate as exceptional.
