Wolfcub · 07/01/2010 08:53

hello All I am at home. I had anticipated nursery being closed today, they are open but don't know if they can stay open all day. As it took me 2 hours 45 minutes to get to work yesterday and I was soaked through when I got there I can't risk going and then struggling to get back to pick ds up if they close so I've taken a days leave.

Ds is being exceptionally challenging at the moment

done
dry washing folded
wet washing hung up
bed made
washing up done
dw unloaded reloaded and on
rubbish out
bread maker on
kitchen surfaces given a quick clean
milk bottles out
ds given breakfast and story time

Wolfcub · 07/01/2010 08:54

forgot to say morning to tea star and dyls and thanks for the thread.
I am trying to cope for as long as possible without the heating on. It is blooming freezing

Starbear · 07/01/2010 09:09

wolf No heating. You've done a lot of work already, I suppose to keep warm. What is happening with repairing the heating?
Plan for today
Shower dress
make beds
breakfast
get Ds washed & dressed
fold clothes in dryer
empty machine into dryer
get another load in W/M
empty D/W
tidy kitchen
hoover upstairs
clean bathroom
After lunch think we will go out in the snow
Should stop waiting for the house to warm up and crack on with cleaning it.

TeaMonster · 07/01/2010 09:27

Star Pants about school not being open, same to you dyls

We all thought it was strange that school wasnt open the last two days, as they are pretty good at keeping it open, but the heating wasnt working and the enginners didnt get out till yesterday!!

Wolf We bought thermals last year from aldi and I would recomend you all to get some, they are not pretty, but they are so warm. DH has his long johns and T shirt on under his suit - dead sexy , MiniMad has a termal vest on (M&S do value ones), as does maxi too.

I also have one on under my top, I also have put thick tights on. We use the layers principal, we managed to not use any heating apart from in the conservatory the last two days until it got dark!!

Dyls and Star maxi wants to know how you forcaste the weather and how snow is made, perhaps one of your boys coould find out and so a brief explanation for him

I HAVE to clean the insides of the car, as it smells as though something has died in it

SO I have made a cuppa, going to take 10 mins and then crack on:

Clean car
More Zone clean
Mission
Washing
Drying
Ironing
whats for lunch and Dinner
Ring mother
Shopping list and meal plan
work on the toys again, we managed to get a small carrier that they boys are going to give away yesterday they are not for parting!

Children in an extremely exuberant [and tiresome] mood
I have a streaming cold, a bit unlike me, and am feeling a bit sorry for myself [normal]
Done
Pancakes for breakfast
unloaded dw
everyone woke late
dh at home to cover while I go to appt with ds1
bbl when dh is not checking up on me

Starbear · 07/01/2010 09:45

TM Yep!Wore thermals yesterday indoor and made a huge difference. But all my thermals are size 10 & I've grown since then so there's gap in my back. Bought long johns for the boys in Millets yesterday LB very pleased with them. They don't have white themals which I need to put under uniform should visit M& S for them. I have a weather book from my DoE days I'll dig out.

Wolfcub · 07/01/2010 10:22

Star the heating isn't broken we are just skint so I am trying to do without as much as possible. Ds and I are well wrapped up with plenty of layers on and I have just switched the heating on for an hour to take the chill out of the air.
tea thermals are a good idea. Could have done with some yesterday when I had to abandon the car and walk for the bus through deep(ish) snow.
swan hope you feel better soon.

hello

snow day here but dds were up at 6

house a mess and not motivated to do anything, even play

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2010 11:19

ok so nothing houseworky done yet.
but we have been out sledging- much more fun

we have a very steep ungritted hill which leads up to by the park. saw numerous cars try to get up- fail and go back down and round the other way on way to park.
so why did some idiot decide he MUST get up the hill he triwed for 10 mins had thick black smoke soming off his car and still kept trying. he was skidding all over the road in his efforts. managing to scare me and dc in the process (we were trying to get down the hill on the path to get home) stupid man!!

oh well gonna tidy up a little before lunch and see if i get anything else done today or go and play some more

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2010 11:23

managed to miss out half my post there somehow meant to say.

tM you prob tried it anyway but when I want to convince my 2 to give away toys I tell them they need to find some for the poor children that havent any. they always manage to part with far more when they are doing it because they want to be kind rather than because mums sick of falling over them all

will see if ds will look it up for maxi after lunch

Swan hope you feel better soon

hello to all others

scattyspice · 07/01/2010 12:43

Hi all. Hope you're all keeping warm (in your thermals ).

Dc at school. I have made it to work on public transport (2 buses and a metro). Only 1/2 late (and will need to leave 1/2hr early) so not too bad. Cost £5 each way though . Hope the snow clears next week or I'm going to be skint just getting to work and back!

BBL (if I make it home).

Makingchanges · 07/01/2010 12:45

Afternoon all

Had a hectic morning. DD at school this afternoon and cos we were walking meant everything had to be a bit earlier which for some reason just caused chaos. I've just got back from dropping her off, took me an hour round trip all in all, and an hour back later and shes only there for 3 hours anyway grrr.

But in return I do have two glorious childfree hours this afternoon (and a mountain of housework to fit in it)

Oh well onwards and upwards.

Hello to everyone no time to read through thread, will try this evening

Starbear · 07/01/2010 12:49

Wolf sweetheart. I found quilts & hot water bottles good when you are just sitting on the PC or in front of the TV. Also those ugly cartoon padded slippers, weird on an adult just kick them off when anyone comes around.
dyls You are such a good mummy. I opted for housework first
Right going to leave ds's bedroom until tomorrow promise to get up early & copy wolf & get a lot done 1st thing promise. I'll lay out my thermals.
Shower dress done

I have a whole list of jobs like that that I need to get through...will do a couple each day for a few days...

Cottage pie for dinner...but still not made..

need to get back into some sort of normal routine I fear...

dylsmum1998 · 07/01/2010 13:54

scatty i was shocked at the cost of public transport when my car broke down before christmas. hope you manage to get home ok again later

makingchanges it takes us that long to walk to ds's school anyway, dread to think how long it would take if i had to do it in this weather

Starbear not sure its being a good mummy as much as a combination of being a big kid myself and an avid housework avoider

overflowing hope yo manage to get some rest and ds is feeling better

am being bugged by grouchy ds to go back to the park, but whiney dd doesnt want to go. what to do ?

wendyhappysmile · 07/01/2010 14:21

hello to all wolf hope you get warm. I say sod the expense and put the heating on, but then we have managed to rack up over £200 credit with the gas so I am using that up! LOL
dyls I used that tactic on my DC too, they managed 6 toys compared to none before I laid on the poor poor other children technique
OFM sounds like you're on a roll getting stuff done. And on so little sleep! Hope DS is better soon.
Star I am awe inspired with your list.
Ruby LOL at you the madam bossing the DC about over the house. Are you threatening them with a feather duster!
changes hope your child free time went well!
scatty at public transport cost. When we lived in Newcastle, over ten years ago now, I used to always complaining at the cost of the metro - but it is absolutely brilliant, though! When I was on teaching practice I used to catch two buses to the school and I hated it and the expense.
Wolf hope you're warmer? And that DS being a bit more tolerable.
Tea how's the laptop reboot? i have a brilliant child friendly book about weather and how it's made etc. I will photocopy the relelvant pages for Maxi and send them to you soon!
Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Well, took DD to the hairdresser's this morning. It's only a 15 min (3 year old steps) walk into town which is normally fine but by the time we got there she was really whining and saying how tired she felt. She looked really unwell on the way home, too. Anyway she is complaining of a sore neck (glands?) on one side, I popped her to bed and she fell asleep about 12, she is yet to wake up.

SIL popped over and stayed a while, so not got much done. Made tea, tidied up, put the dishwasher on - think that's all!
I am still feeling poorly if truth be told from my flu/throat infection. still popping the antibiotics.

Right, BBL

wendyhappysmile · 07/01/2010 14:22

Wolf I am sorry I gave you a message twice? You obviously are in my mind!

Wolfcub · 07/01/2010 15:48

wendy hope dd feels better soon

we have just spent a happy hour and a bit playing in the garden in the snow. When the oven warms up we are going to make hob nobs

scattyspice · 07/01/2010 16:13

Managed to get back from work in time for school pick up . DD not impressed by snow and refusing to walk (no sledge today), luckily my friend was passing with her ds so she coaxed dd home .

To do
dry out wet clothes and boots
ds homework
reboot laundry

swanriver · 07/01/2010 16:51

oh thought I posted at lunchtime but clearly not

morning went fine at hosp - leg mending well etc - just 2 min check from bright and breezy consultant

afternoon has deteriaoated due to me trying to get children to do somewritten work. Truly excrutiating, feel boiling with crossness and frustration at two wasted hours trying to get the poor twins to write 3 lines each on the subject of what they remember about Christmas [clearly very little] and ds to write somethign about Hurdy Gurdies.

Later
Two phone calls later, feel better, homework is now done[badly]and rest of afternoon now free

Dh has been working all afternoon proofreading.
