why do our kettles keep scaling up so much?

We reluctantly part with (fully functioning) kettles every year. Thats £45 on a new kettle each year - have tried various models.
Lived in a hard water area for the past 5 years, so just assumed it was a huge problem with the area. (by the way we do descale regularly, and fill from the spout.../clean out rinse kettle each morning)

Moved to a different part of London a few months ago, decided to buy a new kettle, and sure enough 6 days in - its full of scale!

Going mad here. Fed up of using a tea strainer each time, never see anyone else doing this.
Is there a trick to keeping a scale free kettle?
By the way, descaling - either with the solution from supermarkets, or plain vinegar only gets the kettle clean for a day, then we're back to the mixture of powdery scale mixed with huge flakes.

thankyou for any insight..

assuming you've tried these??

only fill our kettle with water that's been through a britax filter jug, live in a haard water area and don't need to descale that often.

When we lived in London, we used one of those scale collector things in the kettle - looks like a little silver brillo pad sort of thing. The scale sticks to it. Seemed to work okay, although they do need replacing regularly.

We have the same problem, but I don't bother getting a new one, just give it a rinse every few days to get any loose bits away and once a month ish if DH takes the kids out I soak in vinegar.
