But I have been enjoying the day , as is my new resolution LOL

hello all. about 10" of snow and still heavy. cant see kids being back to school this week. they had a week off ill b4 xmas hols so we all have cabin fever.

WHat a fun morning! Woke up to around 10cm of snow. Both schools shut.

Took kids sledging. Well, we used an inflatable ring as we don't have a sledge! I had great fun! We picked up chips from chippy on way home and then had hot chocolate topped with whipped cream, mini marshmallows and crumbled flake. Was delish.

Hope kids home again tomorrow! I am shattered though. Could easily go to sleep right now.

OFM That sounds like great fun. We are on a busy road, but we have a park just behind us so played in the park after school then back home to grab the Sledge & out again, (forward planning, bought it after the snow in Feb DH put a strong rope on in the summer)
As it is a week for receipes. Right, I'm going to write out my Pumpkin/Butternut squash stew/soup (depending on amount of water you put in.)
1 small butternut squash or about 700gms of pumpkin cut into small cubes
1 green pepper cut into cubes
1 tin chickpeas
1 beef tomato whole
1 onion whole
1 potato cut into cubes
hand full of fresh green beans cut into 2cms long
1 garlic bulb yes, 1 garlic bulb
1/4 cup of corn oil
2 bay leaves
1 tablespoon paprika
small bunch of flat parsley tied with string
1 stock cube

Sort of roast the garlic on the end of a skewer for 5mins over a naked flame or roast it for 15 mins (I think, I've always skewered it) Pop it into the pot with the whole tomato,whole onion and cubed veg. drain & rinse the chickpeas & pop into pot. Add the bay leaves, parsley & paprika. Add about 2 pints (more or less) hot water to cover the ingredients. Add stock cube bring to boil and add the oil. Boil for 10mins and then simmer for 1 hour. Discard the tomato & onion. I sometimes add cubed chrizo sausage.

fun in snow, got home with 10mins to spare before MIL arrived to pick up DS for swim lesson. He was eating a banana ignoring my dual advice of jumping up and down whilst doing so, and cramming most of it into his mouth at once. In case he was sick.

Yes, he was sick. Great. I was so cross with him I nearly exploded! anyway really do think it was the jumping and cramming and nothing else as he was fine at swim lesson apparently, and has wolfed down a big bowl of minestrone soup, home made tea bread, 2 slices; and 2 chocolte biscuits (I have given up the will to live by now and didn't dare offer a banana!)

Off to read my book. I'm really tired tonight. Need also to put the washer on with sicky clothes.

Well, completely knackered [like you Tort], fell asleep on sofa after so much fresh air, and had to cook very fast stirfry for tea instead of cannelloni - dh returned a bit early and the children had a fight over a pack of cards
all is calm now, just going to read Famous Five to dd
oh now she is insisting on doing her homework
she is not a manana girl unfortunately

evening all
not done much today. did minimal housework.
finally took back the library books that are a month late, thank fully on dd's child's ticket.

did some crafting with dd.

we had lots of snow come down suddenly at teatime. think there about 2 inches out there. but we havent been out, dd didnt want to go out. will have to see if we get much more tonight and perhaps go out tomorrow. do hope i stop wheezing by then

Evening all.
Nothing down this afternoon. Have had a headache since after lunch.

Primary closed tomorrow. Pretty sure DS1's secondary school will be closed too. No snow forecast but freezing so will be very icy.
