Ah well Starbear, our boiler takes up an enormous amount of space in our kitchen and the bin cupboard has hotpipes in it [bin is therefore not allowed in bin cupboard}, so you may have done the right thing there....

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 05/01/2010 14:19

Well yes of course i have. I guess i have done a fair bit. Not easy getting decs packed up and into the loft! Floor is hoovered now.

Soon have to pick other 3 up from school. They are all going to be excited.

grouchyoscar · 05/01/2010 14:54

A snowy HELLO to ALL

Been to the dentist this morning and collected Ed from his closed school and had fish n chips and huge mugs of hot chocolate. Work sent DH home but, well he is on the edge of the Pennines.

Managed to get some CD time and have converted Ed to the glories of Snow Patrol. I have a dopey grin on my face at the moment and I'm only through 1 & 1/2 albums. SP are simply stunning. Bless you Mr Lightbody

Got to take the decs down. Might leave it til tomorrow

Boris is behaving today. The new meds must be working [yay]

Snowy love to all

Starbear · 05/01/2010 15:00

Off to get Ds from his first day at new school -House a tip. Decs down but not out (of the way)

scattyspice · 05/01/2010 16:01

Its a blizzard here. Nearly got stuck at work, just managed to get to school on time! Lots of cars slalloming into each other outside school! Sledge is the only way to travel.

Have decided to cancel plans for gymnastics and buying food (we can live off selection boxes and mince pies for a while longer ).

Probably should use the extra time to hoover .

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 05/01/2010 16:16

Our snow stopped and has gone . Fingers crossed forecast is right and we get more over night.

swanriver · 05/01/2010 17:49

snow warning here, but none so far
A friend has just come round unexpectedly from otherside of London for an hour and half on her way from somewhere else - haven't seen her for yonks and am hopeless at multitasking; it always makes me realise what a military plan school day afternoons are usually - so as a result I haven't put in baked potatoes, nor supervised their homework or indeed paid them much attention , nor done a tidy of kitchen before supper - must try harder to be prepared for unexpected events

But decs looked nice and we all ate a bit of gingerbread house which was still in its wrappers and I think was going to be put in attic with other ornaments by mistake.

Emergency tea in train, and telly now switched on so I can make it

I don't think you can really plan for unexpected guest on a school night. Unless you get the guest to supervise homework while you get tea done! So are your decs still up?
Little bear had a very good day at school and even got two house points, skipped home. I think that's a good sign. BUT he cried when he saw a WWF advert on Polar Bears and now I have to fund them so show surpport for his feelings

grouchyoscar · 05/01/2010 18:50

And your throttling skills Ruby

scattyspice · 05/01/2010 19:17

Aww star bless im. Glad he had a good day at school. bet you're relieved.

Glad you're on the up grouchy.

wendyhappysmile · 05/01/2010 19:20

Exciting life I lead LOL
See you tomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 05/01/2010 19:21

we finally got out the house at 9.1 this morning, well me and dd that is. ds took the safe option and walked himself in, he left at 8.25.

lucky i don't have lecture this week am just trying to get some work done, and going to tutorials etc.

Tort- when are you off on your hols?

Swan why is your ds a book locust?
i do love the library for same reasons as you my 2 love to read and i could spend all my income on books to sort us all out if we didnt go to the libraries.

took ds to get his shoes after school and they don't have any in his size. so will have t try again another day.

since got in have managed to;
tidy
feed dc
wash up
remake my bed
unload washer
fold and put away clean washing
dd is now in the bath avoiding bed time again

need to
get dc to bed, dd at a reasonable time tonight
prepare tomorrows dinner
pack bags for tomorrow
make lunches (may leave til mornng as we meant to have loads of snow tonight)
iron
put away washed dishes that are draining at the mo

Well I have done nothing today after the snow fiasco but have been for a walk in the snow tonight - Its up to DD's welly tops so she now has wet feet. Its pretty much brought sheffield to a standstill today.

DH made it home in time and we went to the pub across the road for some tea - Us an about 6 others in the entire pub so was quite nice.

Now DD and DH are warming up before bed and I'm writing my assignment again

BB tomorrow

Tortoiselookingforwardto2010 · 05/01/2010 19:45

Dyls Holiday is 3rd - 10th April. Kids are happy. Going back to park holidays site in Dawlish Warren. Had so much fun there in the summer hols. And i think it was fairly cheap for 7 nights.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 05/01/2010 19:50

Wolfcub · 05/01/2010 20:06

Got home from work reasonably ok, had to do a bit of snow moving to get the car out of the train station car park and couldn't get up my mum's street but other than that all ok. DP made lamb chilli for tea and is just putting ds to bed yay.

done today
dw loaded and on
wm unloaded and wet washing hung up
dry washing folded
car de-snowed
ds taken to granny's
car de-snowed again
ds picked up from granny's

I am freezing!
grouchy glad ruby's foot stomping scared Boris off

swanriver · 05/01/2010 22:10

Just watching the news about Yorkshire conditions...hope you are all alright - looks dreadful.

Temperature dropping, icy draughts, it's a bit like Day After Tomorrow - help.
