Laminate floor? How the hell do you clean it?

I can't wash it with a mop because bits of it are starting to peel (have no idea how long it's been down on the floor) and tried making it look better this morning with cleaning spray and duster, and a good rub.

Now it just looks awful with big circular patterns and footprints all over it!

Furniture polish next??

Don't think you should polish it -laminate cleaner hands andknees and buff with a towel as you go? Had it n student house years ago -only ever cleaned it once or twice!!

God no don't use polish - you'll be sliding about all over the shop!

I get this floor cleaner that you can just spray onto the floor then use a microfibre mop to clean it with.

Still get annoying marks though, so would like to hear anyone that has the answer to this.

I use floor wipes and get on my hands and knees. I have 2 dogs and 2 messy kids so it needs done often but it seems to work.

Floor wipes for me too. The ones that smell of apple are good and usually on offer in supermarkets.

floor wipes here as well - polishing sounds too much like hard work IMO

HinnyPet · 08/01/2010 00:03

Do you know the names of these apple ones? Sounds good... thank you

Hmm I must've been lazy - I stuck to baby wipes (as there were always handy) and they seemed to do the trick.

I find the best thing to do with laminate floor is cover it with carpet

get one of those big floor dusters - you can take the duster off it - dunk it in hot soapy water and wring it out well then just whizz that over the floor. does the job and isnt too wet so as to damage the floor. they were all the rage not that long ago...i got mine from Focus.
