100W light bulbs are history - so what do you use instead to get the same brightness?

do you really need something that bright??!!!

I've never bought more than a 60W ever.

DH has one of those ultra bright halogens when he does his painting but they are bit specialised

Yes - for a main central room light 60W is very dim and dingy - I always have a minimum of 100W for a central light

Try a local ironmongers or bits and bobs shop - mine still has trad 100w bulbs. Although one of the two I bought last week blew straight away.
