Dh is having a lie-in

I thnk we are having a very lazy day - Muppets Treasure Island after a few thank younotes, followed by a walk who knows where.

Morning all

I hope everyone enjoyed their xmas and New Yeasrs. We have had a lovely week doing family things, took DD swimming and round some relatives, fed some ducks nd played with toys its been lovely. We even managed a night on our own to enjoy each others company for a change and feeling quite relaxed after it all. DH must be relaxed too, no arguments for a week and the first time in a long time he hasn't fallen asleep on the settee in the evening.

However the house does look like these has been some kind of toy explosion so I think we will have to tackle that this weekend. As for today a lazy morning and afternoon and then out for tea to GPs

Hello strangers .

I have been missing from the fly threads for months but now that ds will be full time school this month I am determined to get this house in shape. My plan today is not to leave my bedroom until it is fully done. Unsure whether to get rid of clothes that don't fit as I will lose weight this year...

swanriver · 01/01/2010 10:49

Yay! I have made them write 6 thank yous
and they have been making mattress slides in ds1's bedroom - so morning is off to a good start
Washing is hung out
some errant baking trays in sink

I am really pleased that YEST I managed to tackle the medicines on top of wardrobe and put them all into neat new storage boxes and hoover my bedroom.

To the outward eye our house is a pit too (sp kitchen), but it is really much better than it could be so I am happy.

Hallo - OFM
Hallo - MC - that sounds everything break should be
Hallo and welcome Fab (I would put the clothes in the loft if you can and give yourself six months to get back into them - but get them out of bedroom]

OP posts:
FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 01/01/2010 11:08

Putting in the loft is a good idea but then I might never see them again!

Wolfcub · 01/01/2010 11:43

good morning all

I gad a good lie in this morning but was rudely awoken by my dad phoning before I was quite ready.
I am taking down the chistmas decorations and sorting out things for the charity shop, clothing bank and tip.

Have a good day everyone

TeaMonster · 01/01/2010 11:47

Good morning my wonderful friends

I let DH have a lie in, sorry not been about much, but Mum is back in hospital and being a total PITA about it, but she can not breath so needs some help!!

Anyway Happy New Year

Ham is in the cola in the slow cooker
DH is doing the veg
Decorations are nearly all down, just outside ones left, but we had a snow fall again last night

Plan for the next two days is to sort, tidy and clean, in between hospital visits

swanriver · 01/01/2010 11:59

We are leaving our decs just a bt longer, till 6th I think
TM - That's exhausting dealing with your mum and hosp - sounds a bit frightening for her though. I sympathise with the problem of attention seeking patients - can be difficult to get balance right of sympathy and motivation - just dealing with a 9 year old in a pain induced anxiety strop is a bad enough let alone a grown woman

Lttle by little I am tidyng up. Have I really got a hangover after I glass of champagne what is wrong with me?

will be back with concrete as opposed to physchobabble resolutions later in day when I have reached kitchen baseline tidy.

afternoon ladies,

we had a good start this morning, DH and I managed one of our new years resolutions before the boys woke up then we all had a lovely breakfast with M&PiL croissants with bacon and ketchup and coffee.
Then we have pilled into the car and went to the local park for a walk - it is so clear and bright and frosty.. totally gorgeous.

DH is just putting on some soup for everyone and the boys are watching a recording of the magic roundabout.

So new years resolutions.
Keep Flying
make friday morning every other week to do something for me. I have 3 things on rotation in my mind, reflexology, then massage then haircut.
once every 6 weeks go out on a date with DH going to book the next few dates with babysitting circle so we have to do them.

Really good to see everyone.. HAPPY 2010!!!

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 01/01/2010 14:39

HAPPY NEW YEAR FLYERS!

Well, it's 2010! By heck, I'm getting old 2010 was one of those mythical dates that a Gerry Anderson production would be set in. So a new decade is upon us so I suppose I should use it constructivly. Poor Ed has been 'encouraged' to read and comit to doing some writing (TQ cards.)

Done

Emptied DW
Put away
Ironing
Bed making
Help Ed with his telescope
Nit hunting (boo hiis)
Showers
Dress

Must Do

Clean out cats
Dust and wipe the new TV (there is nowt for the dust to hide under as it's so thin )
Err, stuff.

Ed is also getting a crash course in Snow Patrol appreciation. Then he can progress to Elbow and Doves (mind you, DH doesn't know his Doves from his Elbow!)

Oh and I have to get DH's anniversary pressy. What would I do without Play.com?

more collecting bits to go to the tip tomorrow

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 01/01/2010 17:19

Ruby do you have a network of mums that you could set up a babysitting circle with.

we have 4 of us who are really good friends and started doing this about 6 months ago, it has worked really well and so far it has been quite evenly used between us.

scattyspice · 01/01/2010 18:18

HAPPY NEW YEAR dear friends .

Glorious day here. Lots of fresh powder snow. Spent the morning sledging in the park .

Good resolutions all.

I resolve to do flylady properly and to enjoy myself .
DD resolves to eat lots of sweets .
Dh resolves to have more sex .
DS resolves to be 7.

Need to get on with the washing up then watch Dr Who (have been emotionally preparing ds for the death of the Dr ).

HAPPY NEW YEAR! again.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 01/01/2010 18:25

Yay first babysitting request has been arranged.. so DH and I are going out on a date on the 23rd january
our first date ever was 25th January 2000!!!!

Hi Scatty, wolf, grouchy, Tea, Swan, Fab & makingchanges.

Doing well on my resolutions,

TeaMonster · 01/01/2010 18:46

Hello again all

We have been resolving too, but mine should be not to box my mothers ears out

She is here, we have had to make 2 trips to the hospital due in snow, in fact MadDad only just sat down, he has been out since 2pm!!! She told the doctor that she had inhalers at home, but didnt - so we had to go and get some.

She has told my brother not to worry as she is staying for the week - yeh right!!!!

AA are mending car at last. I finally had strength to summon them and time in the day to wait in/prepare for possible garage visit.
Now I will have to go to the tip too [drat]

Tht has been dh's resolution for many years Scatty - not sure if it got him far

Anyway - my resolutions are
Need a memory box for 2009 to deal with bits and bobs
New filing system for 2010 - ruthlessly prune last year and start afresh
keep ahead of the hoover bags and school trousers
Cook at least one interesting new dish a week from my recipe hoard
Use up the wool by Feb or chuck it forever
Do loads of piano practise
Watch all those fave old videos when it is raining and everyone is at school
Running & swimming at least once a week (me) when kids at school
Read highbrow books and never buy any magazines EVER agaIN
Stop reading newspapers and listen to radio 4 instead

Lst year I managed to crack always putting on jewellery - this year I might have a go at wearing a bit of makeup and getting my haircut occasionally say every quarter.

Yesterday I was thinking philosphical thoughts about 2010
Now I am just going to write a list of all the thngs I should congratulate myself for in 2009 (we should all do this - sparked by Ruby's reflections that she was doing the best she could)

Stopped feeling quite so cross with dh all the time
Encouraged three dcs to learn violin/piano
Turned dd into fluent reader
Acquired a second cat
Arranged building/re-decoration work on kitchen, bedrooms and windows and dealt with stress of that
Got ds1 through two major accidents
Had several friends to meals when I didn't in 2008
Cleared out boxroom and made it into ds2's bedroom
Prioritized children's running around over housework
Organized four new passports
Bought a piano
Took someone to church almost every Sunday
Stopped expecting validation from family members and started validating myself
Did quite a lot of decluttering and cleaning
Felt sad sometimes but tried to remotivate when I did.

So onwards and upwards and more of the same

swanriver · 01/01/2010 22:24

Oh and organised Christmas...forgot that one - that's a whole attachment...

Off to bed now and read my book.

swan that is an awesome list..

the one that jumped out as the HUGE one for me was

"Stopped expecting validation from family members and started validating myself"

That is something I very much need to do this year
