Decluttering tips needed

Despite very good intentions I have a natural ability to create 'piles of stuff' which accumulate to the point where it drives DP mad.

I'm a bit of a hoarder and struggle to throw stuff away as I hate waste.
When I do try and have a major clear out I tend to end up with a bag of things to be sorted at a later date which inevitably becomes the beginning of a new 'pile'

Do I just need to be ruthless?

I'd be grateful to hear what has worked for other hoarders / pile builders.

TIA

have a look at this thread There must be something in the air

Thanks Cybil, I envy your love of a good chuck out.

It's got to be done, have got 6 days until back at work so think I will tackle a room a day and arrange for bags to be collected.

DP will be delighted, so much so I might surreptitiously bin some of his crap whilst I'm on a roll

Just been to our recycling centre here (what we used to call the dump!) - they had different places for books, clothes, etc - they took the videos off me before throwing them in the general skip there, likewise our old doos house. It's great because you can get rid of all the junk in one go.

I meant dolls house, and also I was trying to say they took anything good off me before I threw the rest in the skip. Sorry, I was being lazy and not previewing the message!
