Come and help me organise toys.

Up until now we've had people in one basket and animals in another but I'm thinking it's time to store the relevant people/animals with the play items. So, farm animals with the farm, ark animals with the ark, vet people and animals with the vet clinic.

How do you lot do it? I'm thinking ziplock bags or something like that. The play items (farm, ark etc) are stored in the base of the settle or in a trunk so should I just lob the ziplock bags in on top of them?

Has anyone got any better ideas?

While I'm at it, any ideas for storing a playmobil castle, siege tower and a multitude of knights/horses?

Oh gosh I don't know. Good luck with this thread!

I am in constant despair at a missing person, accessory, sign, car part, truck driver etc. The sets are all long since dreadfully messed, mixed and mangled. Nothing fits, most bent or chewed. Lego is the worst, stupid little flower heads and bits of cars - it's never going to stay together or be complete

I'm sure I was never like this with my toys.

The worse it all looks (to me) the more fun DS seems to have though, so I now just try to relax, accept it will be a horrendous mess, scoop by the armful and thrown into clear plastic tubs (very chic) which at least have the added advantage of spotting an essential toy which has temporarily fallen out of favour and drifted to the bottom but must now be had at once mummy !

Am I being a bit too keen, getting into 'organising toys' mode just a few days after Christmas?

I use sealable freezer bags loads. Those boxes with 4 jigsaws in get straight away split into bags, and DS' castle and nights all go in bags too.
I dont spend money on zip locks as such, just those sealable freeezer bags- got 60 in a box from the Poundland shop.

And yes. You were being too keen

I just spent all day sorting out toys

Not keen but going back to work / school on Monday has spurred me on!

DS has about 18 (I kid ye not) plastic storage boxes full of stuff, and two toyboxes.

He will not get rid of anything at all so I now even have a box dedicated to "plastic crap" where every single cracker / party bag toy he's ever had is currently residing.

Each box has a particular type of toy in it with all the bits eg meccano, lego, dinosaur track, train track etc.

Some of the boxes live under his bed and then two of those storage compartmenty things on wheels.

Can't believe I'm admitting to him having quite so much stuff TBH.

I have a unit from Ikea with plastic boxes of different depths on runners and a series of plastic crates with lids (Sainsbury's, The Range, etc.).

People stay with the associated thing, e.g. we have a large box of Happyland buildings, vehicles, animals and people. Another with ELC farm buildings, people & animals.

Cars in one box
Barbie & co in another
Lego in one
Play food / pans in another

It's the only area of my life in which I'm organised.
