our boiler is over 10 years old. am aware it might start being £££ively temperamental
ist ehre a warranty type thing you can buy into to spread any looming cost?

that british gas thing?

Flame · 30/12/2009 11:32

like that?

SpanishCYBILwar · 30/12/2009 11:33

yep I do the british Gas thing, £15 a month (just for boiler though, not rads or Megaflow) and i ahve had about 5 engineers out in the past 2 months, it does pay for itself.

Flame · 30/12/2009 11:33

ignore me - 7yrs or older not done it seems

CoqAuVin · 30/12/2009 11:33

yes that is what i am thinking of but no boiler repair is it?

OP posts:
Flame · 30/12/2009 11:34

hang on - no replacement, seems to repair though

SpanishCYBILwar · 30/12/2009 11:34

they do repair, but as flame said your may be too old

Flame · 30/12/2009 11:36

why is it that I toddle off and look up crap for people on MN, yet my own issues I come to MN and expect you lot to do it for me.

if we all did our own googling there'd be about 3 threads

MadameCastafiore · 30/12/2009 11:41

We have one with British Gas and they are great - the prioritise you if you have small children and we now have the whole plumbing system covered too - when the plunger thing in the loo went they were round within an hour.

It is quite expensive but you can pay monthly.

CoqAuVin · 30/12/2009 11:44

hmm tanks all

British Gas service scheme

Our boiler is over 20 years old & British Gas still cover it, but they've warned us that some parts are no longer available so if one of those fails we'll need a new one - it's £220 a year for the whole heating system & that includes an annual service (in our case they suck their teeth a lot & mutter darkly about corrosion ).

They've provided some v good service over the years too although I know some people's experiences aren't so good.

I've seen lots of ads for homeserve recently - they seem really cheap but I know nothing about them.

notwavingjustironing · 30/12/2009 11:50

Coq - this is another poor attempt at a controversial thread - have you lost your touch chicken?

You could have at least put it in AIBU
"- AIBU to have no cover on my ancient boiler"

We could have all piled in with impunity then.

CoqAuVin · 30/12/2009 11:51

oh i am too strange feeling to be contraversial.
right i wil try harder.

Flame · 30/12/2009 11:54

cornsilkcremeeggspotter · 30/12/2009 11:58
