Anyone know about mattresses?

We've been really disappointed with our Memory Foam mattress as it's totally collapsed at DH's side so he feels as though he's rolling out of bed all the time. He's only of average male proportions, in case any of you were wondering!

We're thinking about buying a Vispring mattress, and just wondered if any of you have any mattress info you'd care to share. Vispring come with a lifetime (maybe 10-year) guarantee, but are they worth the ££££?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

no idea about vispring, ive never heard of them.

if you really like it go to the mattress shop, try it out again and get the item code number. then go to ebay and get it half the price.

thats what we did with our relyon mattress, we saved £££ that way.

Thanks bamboo. We're just at the stage of going round mattress shops and testing things out. Seen a nice Hypnos one but not many places sell it online. PILs recommended Vispring.

The search continues!

Have a Visprung, bought from John Lewis sale. I like that you can have one side firm, other medium. OH did not like it at first, found his medium side too firm, but was champing at the bit to get back to it after Christmas travels. I LOVE it.
Very heavy to make though, so darling H has to makeit, help
Expensive, but fab!

Vispring are supposed to be one of the best mattress brands around aren't they?

We have Relyon and that has been good - although it is now 10 years old and we're probably due for a new one! I'm thinking of getting a mattress topper like this rather than get a new mattress, as look really comfy and should save a few ££££s too!

We have a latex mattress - have never liked springs - and we both love it. It is very firm but we prefer that. Try one before you buy springs.

I am really into beds (mattress, bedding, pillows) and did loads of research prior to buying ours. Vi-spring is very good, but for less money (and equal quality), I prefer Hypnos. We purchased one of the top end Hypnos and it was 1/5 of the price of Vi-spring (they are cheaper because they are still a small family-run business which does not really advertise). If you are near Princes Risborough, you can go to their headquarters and try out the different mattresses (probably can at a local dealership, but they proabably don't have the full range).

To put into perspective, the Vi-spring we looked at was £20k, and the equivalent Hypnos was 6K - big difference!

We had ours custom made (to US dimentions), and they were lovely. There is a 25 year warranty on them, and it has been the best purchase we have ever made.

Thanks for all your help, folks.

Crikey, Sofa Queen, I'd no idea a mattress could cost that much! It's not that long ago that you could buy a house for 20 grand!

We saw a nice king size Hypnos one at a local shop for about £700, so might go back and try that again.

Birdy, buy at Dreams and you can change it after a month if you don't like it. You pay only the delivery charge

There is quite a lot of stuff online google ... chemicals mattress made me sick, lots of real stories and forums. I found the memory foam too hot and the pillow, well I thought my head was on fire. I would also like to find a great bed/mattress. Will keep looking.

we have had a vispring for 16 years and are now thinking of replacing it as its got small tears in the cover and is not as luxurious as it was. A king size regal supreme (a mid range vispring) is currently less than 4k, although you could pay more than that. They are good beds.
