Tea stain on lovely old kilim

I don't know if they sell it in the UK, but a rug expert I spoke to recently suggested using Orange carpet cleaner, even on old rugs and those with vegetable dyes.

I would imagine that tea stains are related to red wine stains (tannin) so any trick that works for wine ought to work for tea.

You could try soda water and/or spot upholstery cleaner, but dab it on the underside of the rug first to check if it makes the dye run.

Good luck finding that Orange stuff. I use all their cleaning products and they smell fab, as well as being very effective.
