Ours is nearly six years old - its dry cleaned every year but should I replace it more regularly?

How old is your duvet?

10 years

Never. Still using ones from my childhood, and we have enough for all beds and a couple spares now.

MarjoryMoores · 27/12/2009 19:13

jolly good - was worried that some random rule of new duvets every few years had passed me by!

if they are good ones they last a lifetime

MarjoryMoores · 27/12/2009 19:17

its synthetic as I'm allergic to down - mid range but still lovely and warm.

Every 2 or 3 years. Usually because a dog has been horribly sick on them.

Would be much less frequently otherwise.

moocowme · 27/12/2009 20:31

we have home made quilts so never get rid of them. the more the toastier in this weather.

Meglet · 27/12/2009 20:39

About every 7 years, don't get round to dry cleaning them though.

elliott · 27/12/2009 20:44

Have never got rid of a duvet. In my adult life I have acquired 3 new ones, so I guess that means I have a new one about every 7 years. The old ones become spares for guests.

I've just treated myself to a proper down duvet which is absolutely lovely - but I sure hope it lasts a lifetime!

Synthetic duvets don't last as long as down duvets.
