Smell of White Sprit in my washing - help!

My DH used white spirit to get some expanding foam off his shirt and then in his wisdom put it in a load of washing (admittedly after rinsing it a few times in a bucket) Now my entire load smells fairly strongly of white spirit even after 2 washes.

I'm trying a few things outside on the line to see if a good airing will do the trick. Anyone got any other ideas??

Not sure, but I think white spirit is not water soluble (sp). I think you will have to hang the washing outside to let the smell evaporate (I know, not easy if you are frozen solid). Be careful because I am pretty certain the vapour may be flammable - so don't put it in the tumble dryer or near a naked flame. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Hanging on the line froze them solid but did the trick! DH can heave a sigh of relief! He had hadn't the courage to tell me that my favourite top was in that wash!
