How to get white tac out of a wool duffel coat?

Help - please. DH got off the train yesterday and he has white tac on his wool mix duffel coat (black). No idea how to remove so have any of you domestic Goddesses got any tips?

stick it in the freezer and then the tac might peel off once hard

alternatively, your local friendly dry cleaner should be able to advise (maybe better than random MN advice from people like me!)

I was about to suggest freezing it as it works with chewing gum..
