Morning all - Feeling a little better today after a rough evening yesterday so gonna grab the bull by the horns and get some stuff done.

Hoover downstairs
Wash bedding from all lurge - DD's and ours
DD to nursery
Pick belated birthday present up from GP couldn't get to see us
Go shopping for a pair of black trousers for PGCE interview next week
Whats for tea
Kitchen clean - Must get into habit of cleaning kitchen straight after cooking and eating.

Speak to nursery about plans (or lack of)for christmas concert next week
Soeak to nursery about changing DD's hours after christmas
Then put my feet up this evening.

I'm sure I'll never get through this list but it'll give me a basis to work on.

Hope everyones ok. Swan poor DH, self-inflicted i'm assuming

Makingchanges · 10/12/2009 11:27

Crikey threetimemummy I was impressed by the length of your list - I was more impressed when I saw how much was done already.

Ok I have been thwarted at the first hurdle - I have no hot water - No idea why. Boiler has numerous lights on but no ida if its broken or not and DH not answering his phone for advice. Have washed pots with boiled water from kettle but does the washing machine need hot water or does it heat it itself (is that a silly question). Also had to write some Xmas cards out for DD. She can only remember a few names and I only know a few. How do you write xmas cards without knowing names and without a list from school. arghhhh

scattyspice · 10/12/2009 12:10

Hi girls .

swan thanks for the thread (I'll go find a mission).

Threetimes welcome aboard. Good luck with that list.

MC Oh no, I hope you get some hot water soon.

DC school nativity was absolutely lovely (surely one of the best bits of being a Mum). DS was a fabulous (slightly camp ) dancing cow and dd sang her heart out in the choir (and kept blowing me kisses ). Even dh seemed to have something in his eye!

Now struggling through the present wrapping and watching This Morning .

OverflowingFestiveMum · 10/12/2009 12:54

afternoon all

brief FLYpast again...

been shopping this am....DD needed tinsel for head band for Angel costume....

Found great new discount bookshop that seemed to have bigger range of nice books than the others....few more of my last pressies sorted (whilst cunningly distracting dd4 with a Barbie book LOL)

Then dd4 to nursery...

Next 5 min cuppa...then off to watch DD4 Nativity

Am getting a bitstressed at my total inability to find nice affordable party wear for DD1 for next week....I can find nice, and I can find affordable, but sadly nothing that meets both criteria....

DS2 in totally foul mood againthough...sigh...so not sure how Nativitywill go...although he was very good yesterday...

Right,must dash...House a tip...am hoping to catch up tomorrow

BBL

TeaMonster · 10/12/2009 13:41

I am in a really bad mood after row with my mother, she insisted on sreaming at me in the car, whist DS2 was in it, so I told her not too and now she wont speak to me at all

Simply · 10/12/2009 13:46

MakingChanges I would expect your w/m to have a cold fill i.e. have cold water entering which is then heated to the temperature chosen by the programme you've decided on. Have you got the user's manual you can refer to?

Back again in a mo.

swanriver · 10/12/2009 13:48

Back from another (more distant)hospital for ds1 followup on the leg.
Ruthless (but no doubt brilliant)consultant said ds leg was healing v.well, and now he should be walking at same pace as me LOL (but I'm a bit fast really) even on crutches.
Which contradicted physio in same hospital, but still - will see her tomorrow and find out truth of matter. He was also of opinion that ds1 should throw away his crutches in two weeks So that's a bit of worry, feeling very nervous of letting him walk around everywhere without support but GOOD NEWS, and that should use up a lot of energy - walking everywhere by himself.

He also said ds1 could have a bath or shower aand go swimming now.

So just need to fit all this supervised exercise into the tinsel filled days LOL and stop other dcs tripping him up and pushing him over...

We have bought a piano at last (on way home from hospital) ££ but exciting.

OFM - Adams? I think dd wears only separates to parties now anyway, never beautiful oldfashioned dresses like I would have wanted at that age. She layers things, so in a way none have to be very expensive, and loves those A-lline tunic tops over leggings.

the mission is here

Simply · 10/12/2009 13:51

Hello all. I have to do some paperwork whilst it is quiet i.e. before the kids arrive home so I'll come on properly this evening once I've done it. See you later!

swanriver · 10/12/2009 13:52

Sorry about screaming mother in car TM, it sounds a familiar scenario to me with my mum, I think shopping and mums do not go together, too many things to create tension. TBH she probably felt like screaming, not at you in particular horrible when they do it front of little ones.

swanriver · 10/12/2009 13:58

Ruby - depends if you can get dh to look after you or not - thinking about it is worse than actually getting it done imo.
But truthfully, I would schedule to after xmas and get time off work if you can when there is no other pressing things to worry about, and when you can get dh to be there.
Do you really need the brace, sometimes dentists can be very perfectionist about our smiles? and want the £ too..Mine are always suggesting billion dollar tooth implants..
Sorry rather have a piano and a mona lisa smile as long as I can still crunch things.

wilting here too,
did paperwork
arranged kids in separate rooms with amusements just to have peace and goodwill
dreading Brownie Carolsinging later

NEED TO
order some xmas presents online havelopped and chopped at lists ruthlessly
prepare stirfry??? or beans on toast
put all the clean clothes away - such sweet little piles in every corner

dh is back home at 6pm thank god.

unfortunately Swan the heating was not the last straw - My car has just died on me at nursery. I have abandoned it and walked home with DD. Cold when we got home to a house with no heating. Have to try and get DH to pick it up later and hope that the caretaker will let us into the carpark to get it out cos we need it tomorrow to drive to Doncaster.

I've had a mince pie to cheer me up - but its just not cutting the mustard. grrrr.

Thanks for suggestions about washing machine - DH said same but not had time to attempt any washing. On the plus side, I did get my trousers for my interview.

StAnne · 10/12/2009 19:13

Evening all
Feeling calm today as I dealt with yukky stuff yesterday at work and asked for two hours off this afternoon to avoid trouble and being late home to pick up DS. I only have one day more of work before Christmas yippe!
Ds very upset over the change of school and is having very up and down moods.
My Mum is also very unwell at the mo and I'm worried she will not be able to well enough to pick up Ds after school.
Would like to get a nice Mother's help instead of a childminder as Mum will be heart broken if she couldn't pick up DS after school. Well I'll call the local council child & family helpline thingy and see if they have any suggestions.
Going to have an M&S curry tonight so I can get on with writing cards and Xmas journal.
P.S I did clean the cupboard under the stairs the other night and found some fab stuff, wrapped Christmas presents that were never give!!! legal books that I've been looking for at work and at home. Threw out Next catalogues put Christmas table things in one box to find on Christmas day V. pleased with my self
Catch you lot later as DH is going down the pub for the quiz.
