need a new mattress - where to begin?

ours is knackered and because my DS is so much heavier than me i tip into the middle...we need a good quality firm mattress but i don't want to spend more than £500 max. be nice to spend less but i suspect you get what you pay for? anyone got any tips? argos has literally hundreds of mattresses. i have no idea what brands are good. anyone?

I got one from Ikea, it is fab. It's a sprung mattress but has memory foam around it, and a topper. Really comfortable, nice and firm.

don;t buy from somewhere unles you can both lie on it to try it.

it might have been this one, but can't quite remember the name Ikea does exchange in 90 days if you don't love it.

We both have bad backs, and this has been very good.
