How much for Molly/Merry Maid cleaning?

While I manage to hoover/dust every otther most days, there seem to be 100000 jobs in the house that I never seem to get round to doing - fronts of kitchen units/floors/paint work etc.

Have family arriving for xmas next weekend, and was thinking about spending a day next week per room. Although in principle it sounds good, with MN a toddler it probably wont work that way at all.

So I was thinking about getting someone in - ideally to throughily clean downstairs/bathroom (*bedrooms arent too bad), it would be lovely to go out for the day and come back to it done??

Any ideas what sort of price this would be? I've left a message for the local company this morning, and am waiting on them getting back to me. I honestly have no idea how much it would be - it would be nice to have a rough idea?

Also has anyone had this done before? Was it worth it?

They cost a bomb for one-off cleaning and the cleaner gets very little of it.

Better to stick an ad in newsagent window and make clear it is a one-off cleaning job.

Geordie - can I be really cheeky and ask how much this quote was?

I dream of having this done but think the cost would put DH me off
