Hello, just back from a very energetic morning, hosp appt, more Xmas cruising shopping (papercups and napkins and paperchain kits), and a jog round the park with ds1.

Last night went shopping after dh came home, but only managed to buy main ingredient of Xmas dinner, smart tins of biscuits/chocs, and a few assorted presents for relations. Still, a good start Feel focused.
Dh is letting me out again on Thursday night

2 Piano lessons this afternoon, followed by Beavers Nativity rehearsal and assorted mayhem as dh is out at a party tonight in town. I've arranged a friend to babysit while I go to piano as it was such a disaster trying to take one-shoed ds1 last time , although it seemed a simple proposition.

Hi swan and thanks for the thread. Good on you for progressing with your Christmas preparations. I am actually writing my cards today! I'm being so focused on the task that I haven't yet showered and dressed and so I'm still in my pjs! I'm having a well earned cup of coffee atm. Not many cards to be posted left to write, so that's good.

Simply · 09/12/2009 12:47

the mission is here

Makingchanges · 09/12/2009 13:16

Simply - I wish I was in my Pj's. DD loves to have pj mornings before nursery. I think she thinks she is getting away with something. I'm happy for her to have it so I don't have to fight to change her clothes twice in a morning.

I'm up and out of my sickbed today but still feeling awful. Unfortunately no time to be ill today as too many things to do. Have dropped DD off at GPs and have trailed the shopping centre looking for angel wings for the school concert - needed for tomorrow and only found out about yesterday. Managed to find some white ones in the end (nearly had a pink winged angel) and am now making a soup to try and get some goodness into us sickies. Need to go and have a shower in a minute as a couple of days feeling sorry for myself have left me in a sorry state as well. Good luck on the card writing - its one of my least favourite parts of christmas.

afternoon all

swan sounds as if Christmas preparations are progressing well!

simply Well done on cards.

Hectic pre-christmas scramble has kicked in here today...
Just back fromnursery drop off...have to be out again in 15 mins for nativity 1 (nativity 2 tomorrow!)

Have donethat most loathsome of Christmastasks this morning though and put up outside lights....including numerous random bulb swapping...
Of course all the neighbours have "bigger and better" displays according to dc...
(anyone ever see "Northern Lights" LOL)
Actually both neighbours do have HUGE outdoor attractions- one a Huge infaltable santa, one a giant polar bear...but sometimes less is more

Now quick cuppa... DS2 gone for 1/2 hour nap...which seems pointless BUT he was really tired and in foul mood...doesnt bode well forwhenhe is woken for the nativity..sigh...

right must dash...

BBL

OverflowingFestiveMum · 09/12/2009 13:24

Makingchanges Hi.DD4 is being a pink winged angel tomorrow as we already have pink! LOL Really cant face trailing round looking for white...or spending more money ...when she'll only be on stage for 20 secs LOL

swanriver · 09/12/2009 13:35

I read that as huge InFallible Santa lol OFM

we have NO outside lights so you are doing well. Sometimes we stretch to a tealight in the shrubbery.

Hi swan simply OFM makingchanges
just a quick FLYby. have not done any flying today but book tickets to go away just after christmas. Spoke to mum she is out of hospital and is feeling much better. I am being good eating healthily and went for a run this morning too.
Now I just need to figure out what we are having for dinner the rest can wait until tomorrow.

Makingchanges · 09/12/2009 15:18

OFM I agree - Pink is good if you already have them. Unfortunately we had none but for £1.50 I can't complain at least I didn't have to make anything.

Soup made and jacket potato in oven for tea. Had a shower a feel a little more human than before and am dosed up to eyeballs. Trying to get motivated to go to class this evening even if I only go to get handouts etc as I'm not sure how much concentrating I can do - we'll see.

scattyspice · 09/12/2009 16:08

Northern lights - very funny OFM .
MC - glad you're a little better.
Leo - glad Mum's better. Holiday after Xmas sounds good idea where too?
Swan - good luck with all that juggling
simply - well done on cards. Have I missed the posting date for NZ?

Busy day here too.
Done:
collected Dc with all their missing clothes

To do
Beavers
make sandwiches
find clean uniforms

Day off for me tomorrow . Nativity play in the morning (both Dc in the same play ). Then home to wrap presents/write cards.

BiancaCastafiore · 09/12/2009 16:38

POsting date for NZ was last Friday according to a customer I was speaking to in my shop last weekend scatty

I wish I'd done my Christmas cards simply but I haven't even started.

I have spent all day tidying the house - that's the routine these days; leave it all week then blitz on my Weds at home Not the best way to run things I'm sure but it has been working for us...although recently everything seems to have gotten a whole lot worse and I've really struggled to get everything back to any form of normality today.

Someone was asking about Tort recently I "spoke" to her via MSN last night (she was a star helping me with my Christmas shopping!)
And I think TM linked to some sort of memory books a few days ago - THANK YOU These make the perfect pressie for MiL

Hope everyone else is well x

The kids have done several more cards
Dd has prepared some Rocky Road Crunch from a packet mix for her Brownies'hostess badge {blush]
We have been to piano lessons.
Dd is putting on her Brownies' uniform
Lots of walking, running and screaming. Everyone is in a good mood now.

Need to make tea now before the horror of various clashing events hits me.

Bianca, hope the tidy house sets you up for the rest of the week - drudgelike though it makes one feel to spend a whole day.
Scatty - sounds like a blissful day tomorrow, just enjoying Nativity without rushing around. Hope ds enjoys his cow stardom!

Simply · 09/12/2009 23:36

Good evening everyone. Just a quickie as I don't know if anyone will come back here to read this.

MakingChanges and Overflowing Thanks for good wishes on the card writing front. I do feel I make a bit of a song and dance about it but it's so hard to write to some people when you know that they're very very ill and unlikely to see another Christmas (my fault for researching my family history in all directions) and even though I've cut down this year on writing inside the cards only and not letters, there still is the question of wording things carefully which I find difficult. Hey, ho.

scatty I was telling my Aunt yesterday that I'm holding off writing one of my cards as it is to our American relations who are pretty old and I think they'd keel over in shock if their card from me arrived before Christmas! I've only about a dozen left to write. Yippeee!

I've found some more wills. I've just been labouriously typing up a will from 1806. My goodness, that chap could go on. Perhaps that's where I get it from! See you tomorrow!

Simply · 09/12/2009 23:40

P.S. I did a daft search today whilst I was drinking my tea. It gave me 1500 results to my search for Yeomen in the particular diocese I'm interested in. Guess which number I got to before I found someone related to me?

8! Beginner's luck, or what! I don't know for certain who he is yet and nor does my aunt but it's way back in 1743 and it's the right farm and one of our family surnames so it's a question of fitting him into the tree.

swanriver · 10/12/2009 00:14

Simply - I know what you mean about the messages - especially if you haven't talked to that person for a long time, after all they don't know you are writing 50-100 cards.

Sorted out all the Christmas piles tonight as dh was out,
Xmas craft pile
Xmas wrapping pile
present pile
catalogue pile
christmas fun pile - as in novelty teacloths acrackers and papercups

tentative list of presents bought and for whom: got about 20 and about 20 to go [sob] Never have 8 godchildren.

thoroughly tidied and swept kitchen
did all washing up
uniforms washed
cookbooks leafed through -
tidied playroom for 5 mins (seems easy to rescue since big cleanup last week)
