Our cushions always end up slipping off onto the floor! Has anyone got any non-slip (!) cushions - what are they made of?

thanks

And I don't clean it... (we bought brown leather so we wouldn't have to clean!)

Sofa is just sitting there, laughing at me. Am I destined never to sit on it again???

2 leather sofas here with cushions that don't slide off. The key is the material which is facing the leather (the back). Suede/ultrasuede on the back will definitely prevent slippage.

We've got a leather sofa but on the bottom of each cushion and on the 'top' of the underneath bit there's a huge thick strip of velcro. You can rip the cushion up to hoover inside but it doesn't move when you're sitting on it. It does make the velcro noise when you sit down at first but only the first time you sit after it's been put down. Maybe get some huge velcro and stick it on each cushion so they'll stay where you want?

MILs cushions (of which there are far, far too many) slide all over the place. Mine (I have one big one, reluctantly. I find them annoying) stay put. The big difference seems to be that MIL has really solid cushions (like rocks) and my one is squishy.

MrsBadger · 09/12/2009 09:23

like SofaQueen we have suedey cushions that stay on quite well

the velvety ones (borrowed from the other, non-leather, sofa) are v slippy though

BlueKangerooWonders · 09/12/2009 11:32

OK, so am off to buy suede cushions asap. Anyone know where I can buy cheapish ones???

My cushions never stay in place. That’s the reason I’m on this site now. I did a search to see what others with leather suites do. My suite certainly wasn’t cheap either.

ChishandFips33 · 21/10/2018 00:31

you can buy nonslip matting in the £1 shops - could you cut some squares to sit behind the cushions not pretty but practical answer

New leather seats - John Lewis Arlo ones -are so slippery I can't sit on them and stay upright! Has anyone else had problems and, more crucially, has anyone found a solution?? I'm really hoping it just needs a wipe with some magic liquid that will make the leather less shiny...

Helenlovescats · 04/05/2022 09:32

I realised I posted the above on an older thread -sorry! So I've reposted as a new thread :) Hope that's OK.

ZaZathecat · 04/05/2022 09:48

It's probably the type of cushions that is key. They would need to heavyish, squishy and with grippy kind of fabric like velvet to stay on. Light, fabric cushions will slide around like Bambi on a frozen lake.

Damn, I've been Zombie-d!

Leather scatter cushions are the only ones that I have found that do not slip. Leather on leather is perfect. A little pricey but will last for as long as your sofa.

ByLemonSeal · 07/03/2024 16:51

I had the same trouble with scatter cushions slipping. I found the answer, I bought leather cushions, leather on leather is perfect. Bit expensive but solved the annoying problem, and will last a long time.
