Coffee and toast consumed, feeling a bit more directed. Off I go.

Scales say I have lost two kilos, and am down to 75 kilos (well that is first thing before breakfast)
Don't think I felt so hungry this week, and was probably slacking ..ate things like pistachios, cheese cake, white wine at w/e- so this week I am going to focus more on taking exercise everyday.
Run yest has made me ache all over - but was quite envigorating s'ppose

Good morning all.

leo I hope your Mum's hospital stay goes well and that she is home before long.

wendy I don't think I will be progressing as well as I should with my cards as I have a new distraction here at the National Library of Wales website It's now possible to search for wills proved in the Welsh Ecclesiastical courts before 1858. Top tip, if anyone uses this site, for goodness sake make a note of the reference number and the spelling of the names/places if it is different to the spelling you've been using. I eventually found my father's mother's father's father's mother's father's 1826 will only to lose him again when the website hit a glitch when I clicked to go to the second image! I spent another hour or so trying to find him again! I think I made my aunt's day as he was the chap she wanted me to find the will of and it listed more children than we knew about. I'm going to print off his will, and his son's and I've found the 1685 will of someone of the same name who is also farming in the same place so that might be a relation to my definite ancestor.

Wake up at the back, there!

To do list:-
~ write cards for dh to take with him this afternoon
~ make up a hamper for dh to take
~ go to the appointment I have in town this afternoon
~ print off wills for my aunt or go to the library to get a printout
~ ironing. It is getting a bit desperate here!
~ go to a parent and teachers' evening
~ take dd to her after school activity

Done:-
~ car to garage to have work done and dh dropped off at work
~ pop to police station to give details of person driving very badly last Fri. They'll run it through the system but there's not much they can do. It seemed (following her for about three quarters of an hour) that she really couldn't see very well at all. It was very dangerous.
~ this week's food shopping bought and mostly put away
~ d/w loaded up and put on
~ one load of washing

swanriver · 07/12/2009 11:36

More dones
swept kitchen floor
cleaned out cat litter
talked to mum on phone re: what presents kids would like [sewing basket, Dr Who figures, anything to do with space]

rest of today's list TO DO
make biscuit dough as dh didn't
hoover everywhere
do piano practise whilst kids converse, INSTEAD of cleaning
get ds1 to write a few cards, find addresses and post/deliver ones I've written...(Done 8 so far - a start]

order some Xmas food - can I be bothered, as there are shops all around me...possibly some party ingredients like soft drinks and frozen pastry, nibbles for rainy day etc

StAnne · 07/12/2009 12:05

Well I've done the desk jobs now for other tasks. Plumber will apparently be here by 3pm so not allowed out until then.
Simply I would love the time to research bit of my family but as they were born aboard during difficult times I'll have to wait until I retire I have my Great Grandfathers British Passport issued in 1938 which states British subject by Birth, but he was born in India to apparently India parents. Should he just be Subject of the the British Empire? Ops! I'm sure your busy with your own staff and I'll look at this again in 2017
SwanI'm rubbish at on-line shopping forgot tomatoes this week and they didn't have Ds's toothpaste!

Morning all .

Had a great weekend with my family in Birmingham for Grandma's 100th birthday. She is very deaf, but was very happy to see so many people had come to see her. The Nursing Home were great with staff coming in on their days off to help. I must say DS and DD were brilliant all weekend. They put up with 2 5hr drives and with spending the day in a nursing home with lots of people they didn't know (the only other child was a boy of 10 who they didn't know). DS spent the day taking photos of every concieveable thing! DD worked the room lol charming all the old folk and spending ages with Grandma holding her hand and stroking her .

Today:
laundry
house bleugh
Xmas cards - dd
Xmas cards - ds
Xmas cards - family

You all sound as if you've been full of busy over the weekend.

Leo - sorry about your Mum
Swan - impressed with the healthy lifestyle
Star - will catch up with your brilliant thread later (is it still going?)
Simply - good luck with the rest of your cards.

BBL

ImdreamingofaGROUCHYxmas · 07/12/2009 13:28

Hello Again

I've pulled my finger out and cracked on with the jobs I usually do over the weekendso my new list is

Sweep the kitchen
Mop kitchen floor
Tidy front room
Mop front room floor
Mop bathroom
Dust bedroom fireplace
Empty mop bucket
Lunch
Shine sink
Put bathroom back together
Find battery requireements for DH's Xmas pressy (I've already wrapped it )
Empty TD

To Do

Make tomorrow's lunches
Collect Ed
Make tea (perhaps)

See you all later. BTW, anyone heard of tortoise lately?

Makingchanges · 07/12/2009 14:21

Afternoon all

Still a sickly house here so no housework being done. I have a hacking cough and a stuffy blocked up head. DD has bronchiolitus and is alternating beween crying and whining so its been really hard weekend really.

Hopefully will catch up with you all later when everyone fully medicated and hopefully DD is asleep

swanriver · 07/12/2009 14:49

Done
exercise - brisk walk to shops whilst friend babysat and gave ds1 a leg massage
baking ingredients mission
violin practise
literacy with ds1 and his poorly friend (who has now gone to sleep on the sofa - hope I didn't overdo it

kitchen floor mopped and lower cupboard doors wiped
hoovering
lunch - fried potatoes and leftovers

MC - bronchiolitis is horrible - hope she can get some sleep. Sometimes I think all this Xmas rush isn't necessary anyway ...there are lots of way to enjoy Christmas..I think we are very much encouraged to spend spend spend and fuss fuss fuss because that's what the shops want us to do..

Grouchy - well done on all the mopping such a relief to get it out of the way on Monday.

StAnne · 07/12/2009 14:54

Swan So agree Must calm down. Waiting for the plumber stopped me shopping for more. I think DH's idea of shopping near Christmas Eve is quite good as you don't get suck into buying too much. (I draw the line at DS present as I would like him to get 2-3 things he put on his list)
Scatty No, I'm not a very witty writer so could not keep it going. The title wasn't catchy enough.
Must jump in shower before picking up ds's.

Hi everyone,
just a quick FLYby
have done some of the stuff on my todo list ortehr than the folding up and ironing
I also have started my second week of running today so feel quite please with that.

Mum still in hospital willhopefully see the consultant today. I am just pissed off that just because she is a quiet person and does not like to make a fuss they ignore her and don't think she is really that ill when it is she has had 3 doses of antibiotics in the last 2 months and 2 hospital admissions too.

StAnne well we don't call them fairy cakes where I come from, they are buns! LOL it's all just dialect: American English, Yorkshire English whatever! sorry, English teacher coming out

Nice day today - library with DD, charity shop and bought some lovely children's books, a glass bowl and a Xmas tree ornament - very nice indeed, not tacky! Then snuggled under the duvet with warm milk reading stories from library and shop for an hour. Went to my mum's and helped her decorate her tree after school pick up, and after taking DS to the barber's.
Now bathing children in between MN! LOL and off now to read another story to DD.
BB tomorrow. Oh, perhaps not, it's the sparkly funeral tomorrow of the friend of DH.
